The Kelso Museum is a gem hidden in Pittsburgh's east end. We display artifacts from the Near East, dating back as far as the Early Bronze Age
The Kelso Museum has its roots in a program of archeological field work in the Near East that began in 1924. Artifacts in the collection include ceramics, metal, stone and organic materials that date from prehistoric to early Islamic times. Exhibits explore continuity and change in many aspects of daily life: settlement patterns, agriculture, technologies and crafts, trade and writing systems and practices.
The collection and associated archives are available to scholars and students for research. Visitors of all ages are welcome to browse the exhibits or to arrange a tour. Admission and parking are FREE!
