The Mountaineers and Elon staged the first game on artificial turf in the Carolinas on October 3, 1970. Seating capacity was expanded to 18,000 following the 1978 season. The stadium was the backdrop for the second college football game ever televised by ESPN as the Mountaineers played the Western Carolina Catamounts for the Old Mountain Jug in 1979.Conrad Stadium was renamed on September 3, 1988 in honor of Kidd Brewer, one of the most successful head coaches in Appalachian football history and a colorful part of North Carolina history. Brewer, a Winston-Salem native, served as head football coach of the Mountaineers from 1935 to 1938, compiling a 30–5–3 overall mark in his four seasons at the helm of the Apps. The renovations to this stadium over the years have really created a venue worth writing a review over. The facilities and amenities are great for fans, students, and the athletes. The mountain views and trees and the conscious decisions to not block these views shows. They have streamlined the buying process for drinks and snacks and most if not all only take a credit card for payments which makes it faster. Great venue.
Attended our daughter's hooding ceremony here in the north end zone upper room, ahead of her graduation the following day. The room was very nice for the event. The view of the field and the entire stadium from this location was amazing, only wish I were invited to attend a game and watch from here.
Love the stadium, the area around it is even better.
My husband & I attended a Darius Rucker concert. We really enjoyed it except some people stood up the whole time in front of us. It makes it very difficult to see well.
Went to a Luke Combs concert here! Was a great venue! Great show!! Easy in and out!
If you’re watching a football game here I recommend arriving here early as they allow entrance/line up. This place was overpacked and people will take your seats.
This stadium is neat and wide! Love watching the mountaineers and there's food stalls available everywhere! I enjoy watching game at this place so much!
Awesome game versus Coastal Carolina! App State won the game with three seconds on the clock with a game winning field goal! Boone has another of shops to visit before the game and areas to tailgate. Love this area and Go Neers!!
There for Fan Fest 2022. Great Facility.
The electricity felt on game day is inexplainable!!! This is definitely a bucket list item…
