I have had nothing but good experiences at this CHOP location in Somers Point over the last 3 years. The Dr staff, the nurses and the front desk personnel all treated me well and professionally. I've always been called back in a timely fashion by a kind nurse and had appointments scheduled for appropriate levels of urgency. Thank you for your care.
I love the doctors here but the girls on the front end were very rude, I’m sorry one employee was very rude. Julie should really reconsider her profession if she has the attitude she has on an everyday basis , especially when her profession deals with children. It was sort of like she was profiling me and my situation to the point i canceled my appointment and went to another location where they listened to the situation, gave me options and scheduled my appointment with understanding and care. Julie on the other hand was trying to belittle me and cancel my daughter’s appointment for insurance purposes and when i offered To self pay which she told me i could not do- nor did she give me this option, i had to ask she informed me that it was thousands of dollars and not an option for ME…and the bill was NOT thousands and thousands of dollars like she made it seem, she then called me the following day to ask me if I was still going to do the self pay , when I informed her that I made the appointment at another location - she insisted that information was wrong and I’d still have to pay which wasn’t a problem, if you’re a parent you know there is no price to your child’s health. The tonnage in her voice I did not respect. It was again like she was profiling me to think I could not pay. there were other things said that i will be speaking to the office manager about and HR about …so yes somerspoint is a location that i will NOT be returning to. CHOP WAS ALWAYS MY FAVORITE AND FIRST CHOICE it’s a shame that one employee can make me reconsider care for my child. I truly hope the phone calls are recorded and this matter is handled
Not impressed. Moved here this summer, had our 3rd baby in July and have 2 other toddlers. Clinic is very clean but everything else has been sub par. It is impossible to schedule appointments without waiting on hold forever, then having to leave a message to talk to a nurse, who doesn't call back for hours. Then most times, you sit in your car waiting to be called inside well past your appointment times. They are always over scheduled, running behind, understaffed, and when you finally do get into a room with a doctor, you are lucky to get a genuine 5-10 mins out of them. We do not feel a connection with any doctor or feel valued as patients. There is never communication with us when they are running behind as we will sit in the car for 30-45 minutes or sit alone in the room for 20 minutes with crying kids waiting. Pretty disappointed with this provider thus far. Looking for other pediatricians in the area who make us and our children feel more valued.
I’ve had issues getting my kids seen in the office even if they have one symptom of Covid. I’ve had to take them to Urgent Care for any type of sick visit. You also have to speak to the nurse before they will schedule an appointment, but the nurse hardly ever calls back in a timely manner if at all. I’ve also tried leaving a message on the portal to see if I could get quicker communication. It’s been 17 days since I left a message regarding mh son, and I have received nothing back. I’m switching my kids asap.
Doctors and nurses are nice and friendly. But this office is so hard to get thru to, almost impossible to get someone on the phone. They make you sit and listen to a recording for over five minutes before giving you the option to select for a call back. Call back is a great option but not everyone has the luxury of answering the phone at their leisure. It’s been an hour now I still haven’t gotten anyone on the phone. I have four kids and there are other doctor offices in this area that pick up the phone.
My son recently had Covid and I was told by urgent care to treat his symptoms as they arose. When he started with a bad cough, and over the counter meds weren’t working, I called his pediatrician to ask for something to help since the cough was terrible and constant. The nurse who called me back said they may wanna see him and she would call me back and let me know. I never got a call back! Luckily he started to get better on his own and I didn’t need to go back to urgent care. But this isn’t the first problem I’ve had with CHOP and they used to be so good! Very disappointed
My daughter has special needs and has been with this office for years! Never once had a bad attitude or experience. My daughter has always been well cared for by them all and they are very patient with her when she has outbursts due to her autism. As a mother with special needs child I can say I feel comfy bringing her here and they don’t make me feel insecure about her behaviors and they talk to her with compassion. I will be bringing my newborn here when she comes!
We called this office last week to get an appointment for my 11-year-old stepson who was running a fever, had an upset stomach and a headache. They told us not to bring him in, and just treat him at home with lots of fluids, and to send him to school the next day if he didn't have a fever. Ready for the punchline? We had to take him to urgent care to get a covid test. Turns out that he has it, and chop didn't even want to see him. Also, my daughter has been waiting for her working papers to be signed for about 3 weeks now, and they can't give us any sort of an ETA. Good luck getting anyone to answer the phone over there. Chop isn't the only game in town. I plan on taking my kids somewhere else for now on. I recommend anyone that's reading this do the same thing. I already met with the manager, as well as nurse Chris to address my concerns. Prepare yourself for a lot of blame shifting and deflection if you ever need to voice your concerns about how they handle their operation. I realize that the entire medical industry is under a lot of stress during this time, but not wanting to see my son at all... Completely unacceptable!
My baby's pediatrician suddenly stopped taking her insurance and I needed to find a new doctor asap bc she was sick. Harborview took us in right away and saw us the same day. The doctor's have been great and it has never been a challenge to get an appointment.
They are quick to put in an insurance claim without completing service. When you call to question a service you are directed to a manager who will not call back. Both my wife and I were told the manger would call us to discuss our dispute, but neither of us received a call. Their Dr. would not sign a simple sports physical, because we refused an unnecessary and uncovered EKG test. We were quickly billed.
