Highly recommend Lucas B! I’ve fished with guides all over the world and Lucas definitely stands out. I booked this trip for my wife, mother and I to get out and do some fishing. My mom has never fished in her life and Lucas was an amazing teacher, He was able to teach her how to read the river, cast, hook and land fish all by herself in the span of only a few hours, anyone who has been fly fishing knows that’s an impressive feat! Lucas managed 3 people with 3 different skill levels effortlessly. We all caught plenty of trout and more importantly had a great time with family. Lucas was personable, knowledgeable friendly and funny. All 3 of us can’t say enough good things about him! We will definitely be booking with him again. Trust me on this, If your going to book a fishing trip ask for Lucas!!
Great experience! We caught several fish on our 4 hour trip. Our guide Greg knew his stuff and was super easy to get along with. Read your emails from the shop before you get there. They give you all the important details beforehand that will save you time and money. Highly, highly recommend.
10Sep2023 my girlfriend and I decided to book a guided tour. This is our second time there. This time we had Luke, he was exactly what we needed. Made it super fun for us made sure he took care of setting us up and guiding us through just having a great time in the mountains and in the water. I am not a huge fisherman at all. But he made it an awesome experience and memory for us. We ended up catching a bunch of fish and one was a really nice fish. But it was more than just that. He spent all the time necessary to make it fun for us unsnagged our lines, tied new flies for us, etc. We had so much fun and actually looked forward to recommending them and writing a great review for them! Luke was awesome! From the time we walked into the shop through turning in our gear, he made it all about us. Kirks is the place to book your trip. They have all the gear necessary and know the area better then anyone else. Thank you for a great memory.
We had a perfect full day and guided hike with Andy. From the moment he let us sniff the evergreen sap I knew he was the perfect guide for us. He pointed out medicinal plants, native animal species, spoke to the rich Native American history of the park, and was very knowledgable about RMNP and Colorado in general. We had a great 8 hours and 10+ miles of trail filled with stunning skies and beautiful waters. Thanks Kirks, and a big thanks to Andy for being a great human.
I recently returned from an outstanding 2-night flyfishing trip in Rocky Mountain National Park, complete with llamas and expertly guided by Darren C. of Kirk’s Fly Shop. 5 Stars for both Darren and Kirk’s Fly Shop! Darren’s experience as a guide was instrumental in the success of our trip. Somehow, Darren was always ready with advice on how and where to cast, the best flies to use, dealing with the occasional mishap and fishing line tangle, retying knots, etc. Darren just made it happen! And, he’s genuinely thrilled when one of his guests catches a fish! We didn’t worry about any of the logistics llamas, fishing gear, tents, etc. and he kept us very well fed. Darren is a real pro and I’m looking forward to the next trip!
We come every year and book a trip with Kirks and every year it's our favorite thing we do. This year was the best year yet, our guide Stephen was amazing, educational, patient, and all around awesome. I am not a skilled fisherman, but I caught 6 fish!! Stephan set my husband and I up for success with every spot and every cast. We were so grateful! This is THE best place to go for guided fishing in Estes Park!
I simply cannot recommend Kirk's and John Carey enough. The staff at the store are always friendly and helpful yes, even to out of towners and, as our guide, John was an absolute blast to be with. He taught me and my son 9 a TON, and he's incredibly good at putting people on fish. If you're in the area and can plan a guide trip, go for it. If you're just passing through, Kirk's is a must-stop.
Gerry, Steven and Matt who shadowed were wonderful guides to take my three kids and I out for a 6Hr wade trip. All the kids caught plenty of fish and learned a lot. The guides were great with instruction and helped coach the kids from start to finish. The lunch was the best lunch I’ve had yet from a guide service…the big fresh cookies were awesome.
Ben took my dad and I on a fantastic trip! I couldn’t have asked for a better time! We caught plenty of fish, and lost even more first time fly fishers here. I will definitely be back!!
Kirks is an outstanding shop and full of great people. I started going there about a year ago when I was brand new to fly fishing and they went out of their way to explain the merchandise, the local waters, and answer all of my questions. I greatly enjoyed going out on the Big T yesterday with Luke and catching the biggest fish of my life! He was a great guide - knew his stuff, professional, and very friendly. Great services. Great people. I would recommend Kirks to anyone.
