Common Ground Community Center offers an exceptional experience for members and non-members alike. Clean comfortable friendly environment that has many activities available for all ages. From Olympic swimming pool to pickleball, as well as child care. Classes are available for learning to line dance and proper weight training for all ages.
Went here for a swim meet with my son. The pool is very fast. Lighting in the pool area is a little dim. Crash area in the gym worked well. Would have been nice if there was more room for spectators in the stands other than that awesome facility
My wife suggested joining Common Grounds after I signed up for a Half Ironman Triathlon. I need somewhere to primarily swim laps, but there really is a lot more at Common Grounds than just a pool. I like the option to run on the indoor track and that the it overlooks the weight room and basketball courts. This will be great for bringing the kids to shoot hoops, assuming the courts aren't too crowded for them. I also like the fact that they have a pool table, ping pong, and foosball. I am also looking forward to checking out the spin classes as well as using the weights for cross training outside of the Triathlon disciplines. After my first swim the pool water was clean and clear. The locker room was clean as well. The staff was also friendly. My only concerns as a new member would be: 1. Are my 7 and 8 year old children going to enjoy the basketball courts or will they be too little with big kids running the courts. 2. My 5 year old has to be in the day care area if they are not with an adult. There is a separate charge for this service per visit, although not much. 3. Not much of a concern, but I have always enjoyed racquetball and I didn't look for or see a court. I don't think they have one. Not s huge deal for me but wanted to mention it for those reading this review. Lastly I did see a couple of vending machines but didn't take a closer look. It would be great if they had protein drinks or workout drinks at fair/reasonable prices. Fingers crossed. See photos for some info All in all I am excited to start using the membership!
My husband plays at a basketball league here. The facilities are really nice and clean! Seemed very spacious and well run. A sign by the front desk said something about how everyone has to pay to get in, but I was relieved that want the case for just watching my husband play in a rec league.
I visited with my 16 year old and worked out. Nice facility. However, lately my son and his friend go there to work out both HS athletes and have been targeted by employees for no reason whatsoever. Other than the lack of respect/courtesy of employees, it has a lot of amenities.
Awesome indoor track and very nice swimming pool. The actual gym portion is lacking a little bit. To many stair stepper and treadmills seeing as how there is a track to run on and not enough actual weight stations. A good number of cable machines, but no bench presses or incline bench or decline bench without taking up a squat rack to do so. Not worth $67 but Im really only using it for the track since it's getting cold.
Great facility. Has gained a lot of popularity with the competitive swim crowd. Could only hope for expansion to further accommodate spectator experience surrounding the pool. Rest of facility appears well maintained for good, community wellness experience.
Common ground is a great workout facility. I'm swimming for rehab for a fracture for my leg & a wonderful woman at the front desk help me familiarize myself with the facility and help me with the pool. I'm continuing to go there to work out. Thanks common ground!
We had booked a large empty area for zoo to display animals and decorate cookies. The facility had tables and chairs but we're on our own to set up and take down. Which worked well for us. Did not see other areas but is a large very nice facility. City of Omaha owned.
My wife has taken our son who is two, twice to this place for swimming lessons, both times the water has been ice cold for not only her but the entire class of infants. My parents who paid for this service complained after the first time and were told something would be done. Nope - My son has come home with blue lips and blue toes both times, the teachers are NOT hands on, and act as though they are playing in the water, according to my wife. I do not recommend taking your infant to this place for beginners lessons. Pay a little bit more to go somewhere else.
