TL;DR: great food and sweet yarn shop run by an even sweeter shop owner! Stopped by for lunch and some yarn shopping while on vacation with my partner. We had a delightful meal, including beers and dessert, as well as some lovely conversation with the proprietor. Lisa, the owner, is warm, welcoming, and kind. Anyone can tell that she puts her heart and soul into this shop and that feeding people is an absolute labor of love. The yarn area of the shop is small with a modest selection, but it’s very charming and well thought out. I purchased some lovely yarn to make socks for my partner and he can’t wait for me to start!
This is a gem of a local business. Lisa, the owner, goes out of her way to get to know everyone and to create a warm community. While sitting at the bar, I met other knitters and had fun chatting with them. And I got to eat cheese, drink wine, and knitting. What more could I ask for?
I had the most wonderful experience meeting and talking with Lisa. I can’t wait to go back and continue to get to know this amazing person. Such a good source of positive energy! Oh and the yarn is great too! Next time I will eat and drink too!
This place is original. The energy is great. The material is beautiful and the owner is one of a kind. Highly recommend Knitting Nook, whether you knit or not.
Ok I have been a patron of the Knitting Nook for about 4:years. In fact the fantastic women at the Knitting Nook taught me how to knit my first piece, a cotton wash cloth and I have been knitting ever since. Lisa, the owner is always welcoming and encouraging and the yarn is great. I love supporting a lys!
Came to Portland today to do a college visit at MECA, my mom and I wanted to check out some yarn stores, and found this absolute gem! We had no idea what to expect but loved this place! Lisa, the owner, is so charismatic and sweet, that we bought some yarn, sat down, had some drinks, and talked for hours! I can’t recommend this place enough!
Love this shop. Lisa was so friendly and makes a great sandwich. Homemade mint iced tea and pickle slices are a must try. Yarn selection is limited but high quality. Works by local artists are featured on the walls and are for sale. Very comfortable atmosphere.
Very Cozy, Relaxing Atmosphere.. I met the owner Lisa, she is a lovely woman, she is very friendly and makes you feel very welcome . Sandwiches are great and has the best best pickles that I have ever had! I will definitely become a regular there.
1st time stopping in. Lovely little place. My friend and I ordered sandwiches. VERY good. We could have split one they are large. The fresh pickles were fabulous. Loved the artwork on the walls and the nice selection of yarns available. Looking forward to our next visit.
The Knitting Nook is such a GEM! The yarn is terrific, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming! It's a great place for delicious food and drink whether you knit or not! The owner, Lisa, is the heart and soul of the place, building a wonderful community of people. If you ever have to dine alone, go to the Knitting Nook! You'll make a few new friends like I did!!! Yarn people: the owner developed the menu to ensure that none of the fibers get infused with food smells! She goes the extra mile!
