An authentic community cafe. You can't get this from Starbucks. Tile floors, rustic wood for the counter work area, brick walls, and nice approachable and sustainable aesthetic. This is the type of place that comes to mind when I need to get out of the house and find a place to be productive. Haven't asked her name, but the young woman with the afro.......I witnessed several customers come in and she greeted them very personably, warmly and authentically. She had some good conversations and interactions with all of them. I saw and overheard the other woman working doing the same. Customers felt comfortable here. Apologies again for not including the names of the employees, but for reference to management/ownership that may be reading this, this is the morning of 5.3.23 I'm an avid cafe goer, and love finding a place to call my workplace away from work. This is one of those places. Today I only had tea when I came in since it was my first time, an earl gray. However, it was loose leaf, a good amount of tea and the honey wasn't too much. I loved it. Once you're inside, you'd forget that you were in the Englewood you see outside. Yet inside, is a glimpse of what the community of Englewood is turning into. A safe space for meetings, collaborations, serendipitous interactions, creative thinking, productive planning and hopeful thoughts.
Talk about a beautiful space with a fantastic back story. While I have heard countless stories about Kusanya Cafe, today, I was able to visit. The food delivered on everything I've heard! The service was even better, and the environment made you want to stay a while. Please do not allow people to convince you there aren't extraordinary things happening in Englewood. You have to try this place for yourself, and you won't be able to deny the truth. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options are available Kid-friendliness: Super kid-friendly, a student comfortable joined our event.
I am SO GLAD my work day brought me to this neck of the woods and gave me an opportunity to check out Kusanya! Everything from the food to the coffee to the baristas is awesome. Hoping to find another excuse soon to come here!Food: 5/5
What a gem! I stumbled upon this cafe by accident as I Google searched “cafes nearby” but it was divine intervention because this is easily one of the best neighborhood cafes that I’ve been in. The decor gives you all the feels. I had a big payback sandwich. It was perfect & just as described. And I had a mango blueberry frozen drink and it was also perfect. I sat and happily ate lunch and by the time I had taken in all the art and read all the things on the ways… I was so smitten by the space, that I bought a t-shirt! Try this cafe! Support the mission. Enjoy
Kinda on the pricey side but it's decent. I love to support black owned.Food: 4/5
Everything so far is delicious! The baked oatmeal is really good.
One of the best breakfast spots in the Chicago area! The staff is amazing the food is literally spot on I highly recommend this place.
Perfect place for a sandwich and coffee. Service was impeccable. I absolutely love the location- englewood needed this gem. My only problem is that I didn't take anything to go.Food: 5/5
An absolute must visit cafe in Chicago. They have great coffee, which they make in their own roastery you can also buy 1 lb bags. They have really good food: muffins, pastries, sandwiches with names like Mozz Def and Ham Master Jay, and dishes like Bernie Mac and Cheese. The staff is incredible - friendly and good service. Plenty of seating with some outlets for plugging in. And always good music lightly playing in the background.
Friendly, helpful staff and cute decor- a perfect place to sit and sip your coffee. I had the Lupe Tobasco on a croissant with veggies, but you can add meat as well. Very reasonably priced!
