I never do these reviews but if you have a child and are thinking of signing them up for Karate Kyuki-Do is the place to go. We enrolled our son about 6 months ago and couldn't be happier. The Dojo is very warm and welcoming and clean a large schedule through out the week to chose from. The instructors are great and I get the impression there happy to be a part of the Dojo and that says a lot happy employees always equals great quality.
My 3 children have been students at Kyuki-Do Martial Arts of Elgin for the past 2 years, working through their black belt leadership program. My kids range in age from 16 - 7 years, 2 girls and a boy, and I love that they are able to train together in this program as they learn from each other's strengths and help support each other in their weaknesses. They train alongside both kids and adults, and this creates an environment where all are equal and deserving of respect. The staff and instructors here show that they are invested and care about each of the students, children and adults, and that they want to see them all reach their full potential not only in martial arts, but in life. The confidence that I've seen in my kids as they walk onto the mat here has been amazing. My daughters feel empowered and strong. My son is learning self-control and respect for others. This is a testament to not only the practice, but to the amazing people here at the Elgin location who have become such a big part of my kid's lives. I really can't say enough about this place or these people. I highly recommend anyone interested in getting involved to reach out to them.
My wife and I recently enrolled our son in the 3/4 program and after his first week I can definitively say we're very glad we joined! He now asks daily during school pick up if he's going to "karate class" which makes us so happy as other sports we've tried weren't received as well. We are sincerely looking forward to his progress throughout the program in building his self confidence and self esteem. Mrs. Berg followed up with us when she said she would, explained everything so well and during our initial one on one session made us all feel so comfortable. It's also nice to see that she and her entire family are involved in the facility. As a newly joined family I can say the sign up process was easy, thorough and also allows for flexibility should your schedule or preferences change. If you are thinking about it I would definitely recommend joining their program based on our experience!
We are incredibly grateful to be part of the Kyuki-Do Martial Arts of Elgin family. We originally enrolled our son in the program when he was four to help with his focus and confidence. We quickly saw results in both areas. The instructors do a wonderful job with the kids to keep them engaged and challenged. A year ago, I made the decision to enroll and train with my son and we are currently working towards our black belts together. I am honestly not sure who has more fun, my son or me. It has been a wonderful bonding experience for the two of us that we will share forever. It is nice to see multiple families training at the academy together. I highly recommend enrolling your child or the whole family at Kyuki-Do Martial Arts of Elgin. The team has always been fantastic and really do love what they do.
Joining the KMA Elgin community has been a wonderful experience. Both our daughters joined last spring Pre 5/6 & Basic and the progress we’ve seen has been incredible. The KMA instructors are fantastic, displaying patience and encouragement; providing students with structure, discipline and confidence. Our older daughter took initiative to commit to their Leadership program and is thoroughly enjoying the journey to black belt, pushing herself with the support of her teachers and peers. We would highly recommend KMA Elgin for all ages.
Our family is grateful to have been introduced to Kyuki-Do Martial Arts of Elgin. Our daughters first met Mrs. Berg through a summer program and enjoyed it so much that they convinced us to let them join. The younger started in pre-kyuki-do at 5 and the older in basic at 7. It's been almost two years since starting and they managed to convince me to join in as well last year. It's a very cool experience to now be training with both girls and is a memory I'll cherish and hope they do as well. We're aiming for black belts and all of the instructors and staff are consistently helpful and motivating. With the growth in coordination, self-confidence, and ability we've seen in our girls matched by the supportive culture of the school it's an experience that is worth every minute of class and drop of sweat!
As parents of an active toddler, we were looking for something for him to burn energy in a fun environment. At Kyukido of Elgin, we got so much more. Our now 7-yr old son learned discipline, respect, confidence, commitment, among so many other strengths that have grown his character, and is evident at home, school, and other environments. He desires to be a black belt! We moved out of the area and drive about 45-60 min to attend, and feel it is completely worth it! There truly is nothing like it where the student not only gets a good physical workout, but grows in their character development learning specific disciplines each week. Master Steinmeier and Miss Grace are wonderful as well as the other leaders. We've had friends and family join after seeing what they have to offer. You won't be disappointed!!
We signed our 4 year old up for the KMA 3/4 program to help build his confidence and pull him out of his shy shell. Since he started in June, we have seen so much growth in him! He gets excited to go to class and work with the instructors who we all love. They have so much patience with the children! Mrs. Berg is always quick to respond to any email or phone call, and is always on top of things. I was even surprised to see how many events they do outside of class time, like a summer bbq and breakfast with Santa! I would highly recommend signing your child up for a class here! It’s amazing to watch his/her growth within the program.
My daughter joined this past November and we could not be more pleased with her accomplishments. Her confidence, stamina, and focus have greatly improved. The staff are all absolutely wonderful. They're friendly, helpful, and take the time to answer any of your questions. Overall, it has a nice and inviting atmosphere and I would highly recommend this place to others!!
My son Michael has been coming to karate for almost a year and in that year my son has developed confidence not only in certain skills but also in school. Every karate instructor is wonderful and has a major passion for teaching
