A Boutique for Little Girls and Boys
{La Petite Demoiselle: French for 'The Little Miss'}
Our goal at La Petite Demoiselle is to offer a unique shopping experience--to restore and apply the original meaning of "boutique" to our shop, as we feel that the term boutique is often misused.
By definition, a boutique is a small shopping outlet, especially one that specializes in elite and fashionable items such as clothing and jewelry. The word is French, and translates into "shop". In the strictest sense of the word, boutiques would offer one-of-a-kind products and/ or services.
Recently, the term "boutique" has been applied to normally-mass-market items that are either niche or produced in intentionally small numbers at very high prices. This may be referred to as boutique manufacturing. More generally speaking, some chains can be referred to as boutiques if they specialize in particular styles.*
We offer products and services that are one-of-a-kind and are not readily available or easily accessed. With some exceptions, our boutique proudly offers products that are made in the USA.
We invite you to come by and experience our boutique--in the true sense of the word. If you are unable to visit us in person, please browse the pages of our site and see a little bit of what we have to offer; however a large majority of our unique, handmade, one-of-a-kind items are available in-store only.
