Stayed here with my family of 3 and dogs. We will coming back and soon. Great park, clean and very peaceful feeling. We didn’t use the bathhouse as we stayed in our travel trailer but everything else was perfect. RV sites are mostly leveled in a pull through paved and concrete pad but is mostly dirt. Must of them have a picnic table in concrete slab and with aluminum shelter so you don’t have the sun on top of you while eating outside. We stayed in site 27, has shadows and no neighbors in the back. Be aware that you are camping in nature, a lot of ants around I recommend to wear closed shoes. Really amazing park.
Best State Park yet, lake water was great, had a steady slope so it was good for kids. Pet friendly for water access, Good well lighted fishing pier. Only a few miles from town for supplies. Only 35 minutes to coast for beach. Hot water showers, clean restrooms. Access to lake anywhere, lots of room. Picnic tables covered.
Not bad place. The lake has grass at the edges so some of us did not like that but I understand this would not be a problem to some people. We heard gunshots at night from two different directions. There was also a very loud boats revving their engines so that was not pleasant. The staff was extremely helpful and we had regular patrols driving by. We had a lot of fire ants and stickers in our site. That made it a little harder to enjoy ourselves but we managed. We reported the ants so hopefully they do some maintenance. The showers and toilets in our section were very clean and functional.
This lake and camp ground is beautiful. The camp sits are large and the water is lovely. They have water hook up and the bathrooms are very clean. Their are alot of ants on some of the sits and the hiking trails are short.
Enjoyed the birding hiking and kayaking. Campground has a “Birding Host" couple who are super friendly and helpful in getting you to spot any birds you’re hoping for. Stop by their site, I think it was Javelina loop #29 not 100% sure, ask at check in and say hello. Tent campsite #73 on catfish cove was great except not a very level site for tent and the picnic table was warped, but otherwise fantastic. Loved getting to see hawks, owls, shore/water birds, also kingfisher, vermilion flycatcher, golden fronted woodpecker, and lovely green jay to name a few. Spotted a fox up by the bathrooms, and a night hike out catfish cove yielded a coral snake sighting! All very cool. Plus side, easy water access for kayaking we brought our own, bathrooms have good hot water for showers and not coin op!. Only downside of this camping trip was other humans, while relatively empty, we still heard annoying partyingthink frat drinking games level: not sure if this was in campground or outside as sound travels very well over the water and saw trash along waterfront.
I LOVE this state park. Fishing, swimming, kayaking/paddle boarding, boating, camping, boating etc. are all great here! but the GEM of this park is the AMAZING STAFFFFFF. We camp here a LOT as travelers and the staff pointedly remembered my name, my kids junior Rangers now and what our favorite campsites are. Dawn is the only gal I know by name but every single staffer I’ve met at Lake Corpus is helpful, patient, fun and gives you that good ole’ southern kindness. Thank you, Lake Corpus SP Staff for being you! Felt the need to give y’all a shout out.
Beautiful little lake, paradise in the middle of desolate Texas. And it’s a little hidden Oasis. You can do it all there: Fishing, camping, boating, kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding, RV hook ups, campfires and plenty of activities to do. Take a stroll through the park at night, and you’ll see plenty of wild deer, raccoons, skunks, and the little bunny rabbits. Look up at the endless starry sky, and hear the coyotes sing.
Peaceful! Awesome water/ park/ camping amenities! It is a joy to see families having fun together playing charades, cornhole, fishing, swimming, hiking and enjoying the beautiful outdoors! We will definitely need to return for a longer stay!
Loved the bird area. The trails round trip is about 2 miles very flat. Had a bathroom along the way. Totally worth checking out.
Would love to give a 5 star, but gave a 4 star, read on. This is one of the nicest parks, a beautiful lake, abundance of picnic areas, barn swallows mud nests under the covered picking tables, they come there every year to breed, those nests are protected, you can be fined when taken down. If you go to this State park be sure you have Home Defense Ant killer with you. You will share your camping spot with Ants. Park ranchers told us that unless it are red Ants, what they are not, there's nothing they will do about it and there are Ant mounds all over the place and the Ants will be taken over the campground. All Ants bite, that's their defense. One of these days Ants will bite/attack a person, children, your pet and have an anaphylactic, hope you and the first aid at the office have an EpiPen. Did a little research and all Ants bite. Abstract. Hypersensitivity reactions caused by ant stings are increasingly recognized as an important cause of death by anaphylaxis. Only some species of ants e.g. Solenopsis spp., Myrmecia spp., and Pachycondyla spp. cause allergic reactions.
