Best camping in San Diego. Without the drive. Lake Jennings is a beautiful reservoir in east San Diego. Great shoreline and fish well stalked. Located in Lakeside CA. My home town.. total family spot. And some of the best camping spots I've ever seen and camped at. NO SWIMMING THOUGH . BUT WORTH IT. FREE SHOWERS . CLEAN . BEAUTIFUL SUN RISES. THERE ARE LAKE SITES AND CITY VIEW SITES. LUXURY SITES. ½ AND PARTIAL HOOK UP. A MUST !
Great place to fish, hike, relax and take in this beauty. Snap some nice pictures and enjoy the fresh air.
Cons: 1. Not allowed to swim on this lake. 160ft deep 2. This place has too much bees!! Flying around your food.. Pros: 1. Shower, bathroom are nearby 2. There’s water faucet at each spot
We stayed at Lake Jennings in June of 2023. Although we had a great time,bi was very displeased that two of our three nights were a bit rough. Supposedly, quiet time is from 9pm to 7am, we were camped next to a very large group who were up and being very rowdy past midnight both nights. Why camp staff did nothing to stop this is beyond me. When the people around you are staying in tents, there is no way to ignore the ruckus.
Campsite is clean and well maintained. Lake is used as driking source so no body contact is aloud. It can get a bit warm here in the summer so come prepared if camping. All RV/camper sites that are full hookup are pull through sites, but they aren't completely leveled so bring leveling blocks. They offer 30amp & 50amp service for RV/camper sites. All in all it's a fairly decent campground with friendly staff and a huge covered playground for the kids.
Lake Jennings has always been a home away from home. Such a beautiful location with even more incredible views. I can't tell you enough how amaizng this place really is. You also get the Bald eagles that come down to visit here. It's a beautiful place for a picnic or fishing with the family. The staff are truly amazing and very helpful. Can't ask for a better way to spend your day. So stop by and take it all in. More photos at @Manbehindalens on Instagram
Bring $3 and get ready to drive, hike, or fish. You have to go to the rangers checkpoint prior to venturing out. They give out bracelets, I thought i was at a rave…
Well maintained and clear lake. No parks for the kids on the recreational side but plenty of beautiful nature to enjoy.
I love this place! I really want to come back and rent a camping space next time, but the kids had fun my husband got to fish, and I got to do a bit of hiking. There where some people in small boats but not too many, so I'm not sure about the rules on the watercrafts, but it was super relaxing. You should check it out!
Eagle Point. and it's not 8 dollars. I was just there yesterday it's only 3 dollars. it closes at midnight unless you are camping at the campground. AND they even go around the lake to let people know how long it will be till they close!
