It was a real pleasure stopping here. I always wondered about Lake Placid in Florida as I know Lake Placid, NY. Got my answer from Bob and the volunteers at the museum. Great learning. I saw memorabilia that you wouldnt see in oone of the bigger, more commercial museums. The history of the railway to Lake Placid Florida was restored at this former train station. I applaud the volunteers and wish them many donations in continuing their work. Kudos to their love and dedication.
It was a pretty special day...it was my birthday and I enjoyed every minute.Visited onWeekdayWait timeUp to 10 minReservation recommendedYesPrice for adult entry$21–30
Very great place to visit. The employee there was very nice, friendly, and knowledgeable. The museum took about an hour if that to see everything but it was still an excellent trip and me and my wife learned a lot.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
I traveled from the Tampa area to Lake Placid specifically to ride the Sugarland Express train. I arrived a day early and took the time to visit the Depot Museum the day before the train ride. The town was very busy with its annual calladium festival and many people enjoying themselves, including riding the day train trips offered and touring the museum. The museum is small but fantastic, showcasing all kinds of historical artifacts of the rail history in the area. The volunteers were just the best! I met the president of the Historical Depot Society, Maria and the wonderful and kind lady who not only is a docent but also handles the retail merchandise, Michele. Both women are exceptionally knowledgeable and more importantly fantastic people. While in the area, don’t miss this attraction and if possible ride the wildly popular train to Clewiston and back! It is an experience back into the time of steam engines and the world of the early 1900s. And - be sure to look for Maria and Michele! Great experience!
