Unfortunately this is my mom's hospital now. I use to take her to PIH Downey but since it's not her facility anymore we had to wait for authorization to be seen there and it took 16 hours last time before she was put in a room. Let me start off my saying that we go there and no one was at the outside getting patients like they do at PIH I went inside and asked for a chair for my mom and they just said oh there's one there which is in the waiting room next to another person. The security came out and got us a chair. I go inside and the place is dirty soda cups, water bottles, papers towels on the floor. I reach the receptionist and it's like you don't exist. They're talking to each other and showing photos on their phones. I said I need to check in my mom they ask why. I give them the symptoms she's having and they say so which is she here for A or B? I said both then they didn't say anything and made me fill out a registration paper and you can't see anything the photocopy is really really bad. I go to the triage and luckily the nurse is kind and professional. Unfortunately the triage place is dirty also. You can see the dust on the instruments that they use. They did an electrocardiogram on my mom and as I was there with her they entered another patient who had an infection due to meth use and is walking around with a bloody pillow and sitting in the waiting room putting her blood everywhere and yes I heard it all there's no privacy there. They drew blood and they don't have a tray or anything there, they were using the chair where everyone sits to put the vials! That is disgusting. I've only been here for 2 hours and all this already happened. People have left and the same mess is in the waiting room the same chairs that were there are there. I feel bad bringing my mom here. The way this hospital feels I bet they don't disinfect the chairs once people leave. PIH has someone spray the chairs as soon as the patient gets triaged or gets moved. I will wait my 16 hours at PIH if she has to go to a hospital again. I'd rather be somewhere that I feel safe than here. So far the nurses have been the only saving grace here.
Saved my brothers life. Almost lost him. ICU and CCU awesome teams. Now he is back for another health issue. Good team but gosh, you think maintenance would at least try to put window shades up to keep hot afternoon sun off the patient! There is no shade on the window!!!
I had to bring a family member to the E.R. when they were visiting me from out of town. The entrance to the E.R. was kind of tucked away from the main part of the hospital and was easy to get into. The receptionist got him checked in right away and had a wheelchair brought out when he asked for one and told her he was having heart trouble. She had a nurse come and get him processed right away, ahead of the 5 or 6 people in the waiting room. I appreciated that everyone reacted with a sense of urgency, the way it should be with a cardio patient. The nurse was very empathetic and said he also has the same condition my relative has. He had a tech take his blood prssure and we were then ushered to a room soon after getting checked in. As soon as we got to the room, the "bees" descended - you would have thought my relative was a celebrity. There were 4 or 5 people buzzing around getting him set up with EKG monitors, IV, a wristband, and doing a blood test. While they were getting him all set up, the doctor on duty came by to ask him all of the pertinent questions, and determine the best course of action. She ordered a chest x-ray and medication, which were both administered within the next 20 minutes. Each of the nurses and the doctor would look over and check on him and his heart rate monitor every time they walked by our area. Everyone we encountered was friendly, professional, and attentive. The nurse who originally checked us in even stopped by at the end of his shift to see how my relative was doing and to wish him well. I hope I don't need to go to the E.R., but if I do, I won't hesitate to go to Lakewood Regional! It's very comforting to know we have such a good spot so close to our home! Thank you to the entire E.R staff at Lakewood Regional!
This hospital has lost so much of my respect The only reason I came here was for my tonsils And love the fact that they can talk to my my kidney doctor Now the bad thing I came for my tonsils and they wrote down in my paper work that I had appendicitis which is not true My room has 2 emergency call logs controllers And non of them worked 3 nurses told me they would bring me a bell but I never received nothing I had to walk out the room to ask for any assistance Some nurses where very nice and helpful Shannon from ER, Mariana CNA, Peter night primary nurse and a cleaning lady I don’t remember her name thank u to them that actúa tried to help But there was some with so many attitude so while I was here they had me on specific medication Antibiotics And anxiety meds I did ask for a yeast infection medication just because Antibiotics brings that out in women just to be prepared So this doctor said that he was going to subscribe 2 but not the anxiety meds Which I don’t understand if they could not prescribe it to me why did they All I need is for a couple of days until I see my primary to ask them I’m not asking for constant medication I will not be coming here ever again UCLA in Santa Monica has been where I been going But I was hoping that for my tonsil it was going to be easy to go here close by But wow do I regret it
Worst emergency room service went there on August 2 because I was having trouble breathing and also my anemia levels had dropped. Arrived at 7:45 PM was waiting outside didn’t get seen by the on charge nurse/doctor until 1:45 am nurses were very unhelpful constantly on their cell phones. When asked what was going to be the wait time to be seen they said they didn’t know waiting on a bed to clear out. Asked several times if I could have ice water or some juice since my anemia levels were very low and I felt lightheaded. Nurse told me give me a second. No one‘s at the desk they can go back there. I have to wait till someone else comes back and I’ll tell her you need juice, I have been there a total of almost 6 to 7 hours just for the on-call doctor to tell me to follow up with my primary doctor the next day about decreasing labs that were drawn. This place needs to be shut down the staff nurses here act like they don’t want to be there. The place is dirty floors are disgusting. Bathroom is disgusting . The seems like this is a County Hospital I would never recommend this hospital to anyone.
This place totally sucked. I had a pretty awful experience. I would not recommend this place at all to anyone. I went to the emergency on October 3rd or 4th. And all the staff of this place was pretty much rude and they make you wait forever. After waiting for 3 hours I just decided to leave. I was too tired and was suffering for too long with my stomach pains. And I had to rest. Thankfully the next morning I went to another place in Los Alamitos and I had a great experience there. It was worth the wait to go to a place where I was treated with the most respect and such kindness and professionalism.
The nurses from 3 East were very rude to me while my mother was staying here. My mom could not walk or talk for her self. My mom went in due to infection and was getting severe fever. When I asked a nurse to check my mom’s temperature she said “I don’t have time for that and I am not going to check it” then she did hand signals like get out of my face, so unprofessional.she had no kindness in her Made me feel so helpless for my mother who couldn’t even defend herself. I wonder how they treated her while I was not there. They act like they want to help but they truly don’t! Think twice about coming here
My wife broke her femur and was taken to this hospital by the ambulance. We were visiting from out of town and had no idea which hospital to ask to be taken to. This was the worst emergency room experience of our lives. The x-rays clearly showed a broken femur by where her artificial knee was attached and surgery was clearly needed. We were given a pair of crutches with no adequate instructions on how to use them properly and wheeled in a wheelchair to our car. We were then told to go to an orthopedic doctor sometime within the next week. My wife was in excruciating pain and unable to walk. I called our ortho Dr at home and he said she should not be moved and should have been admitted. Since she was no longer in the emergency room and sent home my insurance would not cover an out of town Dr visit. Had she been admitted like she should have been there would not have been a problem. She should never have been allowed to leave the hospital in her condition. I will never go to or recommend Lakewood Regional Medical Center to anyone. It was horrible and thankfully we made it through the 27 hours of travel back to Kansas City for the care she deserved. We were told she should not fly so we had to drive. She was immediately admitted to the hospital and had surgery the next day.
This is the worst hospital I've ever been in. My mom was sent to the intensive care unit ICU, and the nurse staff were being negligent to my mother's needs that we had to ask the nursed multiple times about to check up on her when ever something was happening due to them ignoring the issues going on. Especially when I will ask questions and some nurses would say "oh I don't know I'm busy", which is the number one rule of what nurses should never do. If I were be able to give zero stars I would give them that. I will be filing a complaint about the ICU unit. The nurses lack empathy, communication, and don't give enough attention to the needs of an intense care patient should have..
ER department is a JOKE. If you are sick or on the verge of dying they will have their patients sitting outside in the cold. You will not have a room or a bed, and will expect to get results HOURS, HOURS later sitting outside in the heat or in the dead cold night. My mother came here complaining about fainting, she ended up in the ER sitting in the waiting room for 8 hours!! I went yesterday for the same symptoms and I was there for 5 hours and sent OUTSIDE. When my friend inquired about my results, a nurse said I was inside already getting treated. That was a LIE. He pointed at me and said that she is still sitting outside. We left with no results. The doctors made me feel like a fool for being in a wheelchair, asking me why I am in a wheelchair too. What the heck?! The WORST hospital to ever exist in California. The WORST.
