Lalo's Mexican Restaurant At University Village

Food and service are fine, and the restaurant is well decorated. However, I found the price a little too expensive, as Mexican food is not expensive in cost. I will not go back because there are a lot of options around and I want to try them all, but once again, the food was good, tasty, and fresh.Recommended dishesTaco Dinner

The food tasted good, but they forgot my sides at first. They were super nice when I went back and I wish I could give them more stars. Unfortunately, when I bit into my quesadilla there was a sharp piece of hard plastic of inside it. I but it so hard that it broke in half and I’m just glad that I was able to feel it before swallowing. Not sure how this happened but it was very disappointing. It gave me the ick and freaked me out. I couldn’t finish eating any of the food, which sucks because the quesadilla alone was like $22 and the total was $63.

Girls' night out for a concert at the United Center. Great location, food was "fye", drinks were very well made. Hostess was also very accommodating. I would definitely eat here again!Food: 5/5

We had a party there. The service was good. I ordered AL MOJO DE AJO. I didn’t like it very much. It was okay. The shrimp had smells. I like to eat well cooked shrimp. That’s why it was not good for me. But other may like it. My friends had different items. Those were okay to good. The amount of food is more than enough for a person

My go to drink...Cucumber Margarita; food Tijuana Shrimp and Spinach Quesadilla always soooo good the guacamole is very good and fresh, I get mine spicy. Good place for a date night or a group of friends. Consistent food, drink and service quality in all the years I've been coming here.Food: 5/5

Lalo’s on Maxwell is always a favorite when I’m in the area. The family visited the restaurant after a day in Museum Campus at the Lakefront. The restaurant was not crowded at late lunch time and was perfect for our visit. The food was outstanding, it was so good my uncle purchase a meal to go. The drinks were even better and the best Apple Martini I have had in very long time. If you enjoy great Mexican Lalo’s is the place to come…Great Food, Great Service, Even Better Drinks!!!!

The place was nice and the food was good. We had good service, my only complaint was we were charge 18% gratuity because we stayed past 8pm which no one told us was a thing. They normally charge gratuity for a party or group of 4 or more and we were only at party of 3 and got there around 6:30pm.Food: 4/5

We had a ball, the food , drinks & music were GREAT!! We were celebrating our birthdays.They allowed us to dance a bit & came out to sing Happy Birthday to us. Another patron was also celebrating his bday came over & serenaded us. The night was awesome

My daughter and I went yesterday, she ordered a drink and the Taco Trios for herself, mines were two orders of the Taco Trios chicken/steak! The tacos were very good and seasoned just right! My daughter enjoyed her drink but didn't get a chance to eat her tacos yet! Overall, thumbs up for Lalo's!

I’m giving this place the lowest rating because of the automated 18% gratuity that was added to my bill WITHOUT advertising me. It was not posted in the restaurant nor was I advised by my server at any point. And I dined alone, by myself. If I had cash I would NOT have paid an automated 18% gratuity to my bill. So I would advise you to pay in cash because you are not obligated to pay a gratuity it’s a tip for service reminder.without being advised, I did not receive quality service for that amount if a tip. I will never go back to this restaurant.
