Lansing Fire Department is a 100% volunteer department serving approximately 75 square miles in the northeast of Tompkins County located in central New York.
Operating from four stations, the Lansing Fire Department responds to all alarms of fire, vehicle accidents, medical emergencies (EMS), hazardous material incidents (HazMat), and hazardous conditions in our response area. In a typical year, we will respond nearly 900-1000 times to calls for help, with a near-even split between EMS and all other calls. Our coverage area is one of the largest in the county, in addition to being one of the most varied. Any day could bring a call to a farm, hotel, shopping mall, regional airport, manufacturing facility, mine, or power plant - in addition to the more common calls to private residences.
