Las Vegas (airport)

Description

McCarran International Airport is the primary commercial airport serving the Las Vegas Valley, a major metropolitan area in the U.S. state of Nevada. It is located in Paradise, about south of Downtown Las Vegas. The airport is owned by Clark County and operated by the Clark County Department of Aviation. It is named after the late U.S. Senator Pat McCarran, a member of the Democratic Party who contributed to the development of aviation both in Las Vegas and on a national scale. The airport was built in 1942 and opened to commercial flights in 1948. It has undergone significant expansion since then and has employed various innovative technologies, such as common-use facilities. The airport consists of four runways and two passenger terminals: Terminal 1 and Terminal 3. Terminal 1 is composed of four concourses, namely the A, B, C, and D Gates; Terminal 3 contains the E Gates. A people mover system is in place between the pre-security area of Terminal 1 and the C and D Gates, as well as between the D Gates and Terminal 3. East of the passenger terminals is the Marnell Air Cargo Center, and on the west side of the airports are facilities for fixed-base operators and helicopter companies.McCarran received over 45,300,000 passengers in 2015, a 5.8% increase over the previous year but still below pre-recession levels. It is the 26th busiest airport in the world by passenger traffic and the 8th busiest by aircraft movements. The airport has nonstop air service to destinations in North America, Europe, and Asia. It is an operating base for Allegiant Air, as well as a crew and maintenance base for Frontier Airlines, Southwest Airlines, and Spirit Airlines.

A fine international airport for the famous Las Vegas with their signature having slot machines around the place. The signs are clear on directing the passengers to places as needed. Ensure you have checked which terminal you will be departing from since different airlines goes to different location and each of them are not walkable distance, you will end up taking a shuttle from one place to another if you are at the wrong terminal
Vegas gets the worst airport I've been to award. Dirty, filthy bathrooms, outdated office building vibe, no paper towels or hand dryers, no toilet paper in my stall, limited food and shopping options, confusing layout, walls lined with vending machines, and of course plenty of room for gambling.
We flew into Vegas on Frontier airlines without any issues. It was very hot at 114 F. The airport seems small but have a lot of amenities. They have free WiFi. I had no problems finding a place to work while waiting on my flight to leave. Getting through TSA was relatively easy. It was crowded but we made it through in about 15/20 minutes. They have plenty of restaurants options as well as shopping, and Casino gaming options within the airport. The airport is very clean.
Great airport. Vegas itself, not so much. Easy to get around, several good eating options. Also, easy to get off plane and get a cab. They have tons of cabs lined up waiting for you to jump in. Smoking and Vaping room on the inside of security, if that matters to you.
Las Vegas Airport is excellent, but it's definitely on the larger side. It's worth mentioning that the majority of Spirit flights depart from the convenient "A-Gate," which simplifies the travel experience.
This air port is very crowded and the Southwest terminals are a very, very long walk apart with no assistance like a moving walkway etc. Be aware of your gate, you may need to run. Lots of construction going on there as well. Lots of good food choices on the airport.
I love this airport! I always get excited arriving here, since this is just half the excitement before going to Vegas The airport itself isn't too big or overwhelming and it's pretty easy to find your gate. People are helpful and there are fun shops. And of course gambling machines which just adds to the entertainment value
There is two versions of this airport. I’m going to split my review into them as INTERNAL & EXTERNAL. INTERNAL This airport is fabulous as you’d imagine for such a high velocity airport. The amount of space, the shops, the food choices as well as the amenities are world class. EXTERNAL This airport is tremendous from the inside but the ride sharing component of travel OUTSIDE of the Airport is absolutely disastrous. The wait times are substantial & it is incredibly hot no AC or anything. We waited 50 mins even though our Uber said 3 mins the entire time. SAVE YOURSELF THE TIME & GET A TAXI
The flights were punctual, and everyone contributed to a great experience. Navigating the airport was straightforward. I was able to eat there and conveniently walk from the airport to my hotel.
Remodeling happening but still easy to navigate. If your first time to Vegas, get on tram to get to baggage claim, then downstairs. Nothing like seeing slot machines as soon as you deplane. Cross street to get on car rental shuttle. Off site building.
