Bradford Alan ("Brad") Pattershall was born in Farmington, Maine and raised in Central and Southern Maine. He has been an attorney in his home state since 1999 and is admitted to practice in the Maine state courts, the United States District Court for the District of Maine, and the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. For over 13 years, he was an associate and later a partner at Petruccelli, Martin & Haddow, LLP in Portland, Maine. In 2014 he opened is own practice in Brunswick, Maine. Brad's practice is focused on litigation. He has represented both individuals and businesses in a wide variety of matters often involving complex and novel legal issues. His primary area of concentration is tort litigation, with an emphasis on personal injury and products liability. He also practices extensively in the areas of commercial litigation, landlord-tenant law, employment discrimination, and criminal defense. Brad was recognized as a Local Litigation Star in Benchmark: Litigation from 2011 to 2016 and was recognized as a Rising Star in Super Lawyers New England from 2009 to 2012.
In 2016, upon recommendation of leaders in the Maine House of Representatives and after nomination by the Governor, Brad was confirmed by the Maine Senate and appointed to the Maine Commission on Governmental Ethics and Election Practices. The five-member bipartisan commission guards against corruption and undue influence of the election process by state, county, and certain municipal elected officials by assisting in the administration of Maine's campaign finance laws, the Maine Clean Election Act, and Maine’s lobbyist disclosure law.
Brad earned his B.A. in Economics from Colby College in 1994, and his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Maine School of Law in 1999. During law school he was a member of the Moot Court Board, and in 1998 he studied law at the Université du Maine in Le Mans, France, where his classes were taught in French. He maintains his fluency in French and enjoys the opportunity to speak it, especially when assisting his francophone clients. Brad is an avid golfer and has been a member of the Maine State Golf Association for many years, having received a four-year scholarship from the MSGA as an undergraduate. He earned a varsity letter in baseball as an undergraduate as well. He studied at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland during his junior year, where he was the lone American to play the Scottish Highland sport shinty for the university’s club during the 1992-1993 season.
Brad is a member of the Maine State Bar Association, the Maine Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Maine Trial Lawyers Association, and the Immigration Legal Advocacy Project's pro bono panel. In 2004 he received the Maine Bar Foundation's Pro Bono Publico Award for having worked the most hours on completed Volunteer Lawyers Project cases by a Maine attorney. Brad is a member of Mensa and enjoys woodworking and playing guitar. He lives in Freeport, Maine with his wife Sharon and two daughters, Sofia and Isla.
