I am a native of Massena, New York. Prior to attending Albany Law School, where I received my Juris Doctorate in 2000, I received my Bachelor's Degree from the State University of New York at Potsdam.

Following law school, I worked for a well-known Binghamton firm that concentrates in Personal Injury Litigation, including Motor Vehicle Accidents, Slip-and-Falls, Dog Bites and Product Liability. I gained trial experience in both federal and state courts as well as handling Criminal and Family Law matters. I also have experience in asbestos litigation having worked on these cases in both New York and Oklahoma.

I am an attorney for the child in both Broome and Tioga counties and received the Law Guardian of the Year Award in 2010. I am a member of the Broome County Surrogate Decision-Making Committee for the past ten years, considering major medical decisions for those who lack the capacity to do so on their own.

I also have some experience in civil unfair banking practices, employment actions, mental hygiene law as well as civil motions and appellate briefs.

We learned of the office of Mary Jane Murphy through an employer/corporate group legal plan. After researching several firms regarding a traffic violation for a family member, we decided to go with Mary Jane, and it was a fabulous decision! Mary Jane is professional, sincere and kind. She took the time to hear our concerns including the details that would be helpful in advocating for our case. And then she achieved the best possible outcome, even beyond hers and our expectations.  Her paralegal, Haley, is very competent and helpful, always answering the phone cheerfully. She answered all of our questions and helped us navigate the logistics. This is important as she is the front office and the go to person for many matters.  Highly recommend this office.

Hands down the absolute best. I needed some tickets taken care of in a specific timeframe and it was done ahead of time and with zero inconvenience to me. The paralegal Haley was incredibly friendly, communicative and easy to work with. I will always return to this office for any legal needs. I just can’t say enough.

This office put my daughter in danger. They always pretend to be busy or play games with their answering machine service they let a whole County ignore the fact that my daughter was in danger this office has not intervened one single time it has admitted to a judge favoring dangerous domestic alcoholic neglectful women who rather remain in a domestic relationship then put their kids first when I asked her to investigate the CPS Department in Delaware County and to investigate the five last years of Judges rulings in such I've never heard back fron this attorney. Such a horrible advocate if this is supposed to be a father's rights litigator and advocate you're better off choosing Ray Charles incompetence of this office is appalling Very contradicting no communication skills and fails to provide oath and registration date. I think she has a lot to learn. She did nothing to advocate or ensure my daughter's safety. Claims to be busy all the time never returns phone calls failure to investigate failure to file motions fails to recuse herself. P.S you're fired and dismissed go waste another client's time

The team at the law office of Mary Jane Murphy did a fantastic job of resolving a traffic ticket for my kid, with the best possible outcome.  I highly recommend for traffic violations.

I can't fully put into words yet how wonderful MJ & her team are but will try & perhaps get back to this later. So I retained Mary Jane for several different cases some quite difficult and was beyond pleased with how each one was handled. Mary Jane & staff truly care about each client... You don't see that anymore! I read a negative review somewhere regarding her mouth. Yes, on a hard case MJ may come across harsh, anyone can! But mostly she's kind, understanding, informative, helpful & funny! A good sense of humor means a lot. It's all to HELP YOU. I've never seen an attorney & staff so good. That's all for now. Oh and Lucy, the sweet & adorable office pup is a bonus! Helping us thru the most difficult times as well. Thank you!

I'm not sure what the deal is with this office but they are terrible. They setup 3 different consultations with me, and failed to keep every single appointment. Finally I gave up. I have money, and need papers filed in Broome County Court and they won't keep their appointments. It's either complete incompetence, or they just refuse to help me for political reasons. I guess there could be the third option, that they just have so much money they don't need $2000 to file a paper on my behalf. Either way, terrible service. One star.

Concise and helpful with consulting me on my traffic ticket. Even though I was charged in a county they weren't serving, they were committed to making sure I got the best deal.

Mary Jane Murphy is a pretty tough woman when in court and always responded to calls or emails in a timely matter. Negatives were 2 of my court dates I had to get postponed because the office forgot I had court and the proper paperwork was not filled out when we finally got to court which had me wait even longer to see my kids.
