My son Jacob and I had a great hunting adventure at the Lazy CK Ranch. We bagged a 190 class Whitetail, Black Buck and a Corsican Ram in the first day and a half of our trip. Our guide Scott was top notch and kept us on animals the whole time we were there. We saw many more deer in the 220-300 class. Everyone on the staff was very helpful and made us feel at home. The food was delicious. We met the owners of the ranch, and they were very down to earth and avid hunters as well, many interesting stories around the dinner table. Planning another hunt in the spring for Axis and Aoudad. You will not be disappointed when you book a hunt with Lazy CK Ranch.
This place was amazing from start to finish , as soon as we pulled up and got out the truck it was like seeing family we haven’t seen in a while. We have already booked for next year too! This is a top notch operation and 100% family environment. And the food , we from Louisiana and are proud of our food those wonderful ladies cooked gourmet food every day/night and even made my son a birthday cake !!Our guide Taylor Brands has my son calling him Uncle Taylor in 3 day … enough said. If I could give this place a million stars I would. THANK YOU EVERYONE AT LAZY CK RANCH.
Me, my wife and my son spent Memorial Day weekend at the Lazy CK Ranch. We didn’t want to leave because we enjoyed the place so much! I was blessed to have harvested an axis buck on the first evening hunt and my son was able to get a Texas Dall sheep Sunday morning. My guide, Marshall, was a pleasure to work with throughout our stay and the staff was so friendly! It honestly felt like we were leaving family behind. Be prepared to put on weight because the food was delicious and plentiful! From the lodge throughout the property, be prepared to see numerous of different animal species. We have no complaints and Lord willing hope to make it back one day!
Best trip EVER! Everything was set in place perfectly. The guides were kind, knowledgeable, patient, and very helpful. This was our very first hunt ever, so we truly relied on our guides throughout the process. The result? 2 awesome white-tail does! The grounds are beautiful. We were driven around in their green trucks—riding in style in the back, of course! As animals, both native and non-native/exotic, came around, the guides would explain what they are and where they came from. There are many blinds set up all over for bowhunting and rifle, and well as tree stands. There is shooting range with targets set at 100 yards and upward of 600 yards. Maybe 650 yards? I can't quite remember. We even fished bass and blue gill fish. The Lazy CK had every amenity you could imagine to keep you entertained, active, and/or comfortable. They have a swimming pool, spa, camp fire pit, rec room with pool table, fitness room, tv, large shuffle board, games, even a guitar! The Lazy CK completely exceeded all our expectations! Because our stay was all-inclusive, we got to dine like kings and queens. Kim is the very best cook, hands down. Because of our specific health issues, we generally always cook from home and rarely dine out. We were both apprehensive at the idea of not having the control we're used to with our meals. But with Kim's cooking we felt amazing! Her recipes are so creative and delicious. We were introduced to new foods, several from game taken on their ranch, that we absolutely loved and crave now! I may have to puppy-eye her for some recipes...! Our room was spotless and stocked with everything we needed— extra blankets, soaps, shampoo & conditioner, shaving razors, toothpaste and toothbrushes, and TV. I'd thought "southern hospitality" was only in the movies. But "Southern Hospitality" was created, arguably, by the folks at Lazy CK Ranch. I cannot wait to come back here with our kids and show them what the hunting life is all about... and hopefully get some of Kim's awesome cookin'!
My son and I had a fantastic Whitetail hunt. We both took amazing bucks. The Lazy CK team was perfect as usual, the dining was superb, and lodging was the best. We had fantastic guides, witnessed many types of exotics and whitetail deer. If you want the very best overall hunting experience than Lazy CK Ranch should be your #1 destination.
I’m a fairly new hunter and was invited to the Lazy CK to write about the Future Hunters’ Summit. This is just my second rifle hunt, but the Lazy CK stands out for several reasons. Foremost among them is the stellar staff. Allen GM, Robin office manager, Marshall hunt manager, Adam & Cooper guides, Kim chef, Mike ranch hand, and Antonio maintenance are such a cohesive team/family. They support and encourage each other in fulfillment of their shared passion for hunting, wildlife management, and the Lazy CK. The Texas Hill Country is known for being warm and welcoming, and the staff here is a shining example of that hospitality. Kim’s comfort food was so delicious I conveniently forgot about my strict diet. On the other hand, I’ll never forget how Adam gently whispered calming words as I nervously positioned to take my animal, or how Marshall gave me a hug when I felt so discouraged, or how goofy and happy Cooper was when another lady in my group finally took her monster axis buck. The amenities from the drink fridge that never runs out, the open bar, infinity pool, game room, gym, shooting and archery range, 5-stand, etc. are luxurious but not overly so that it feels real - It feels like home. The best stories and laughs were shared around music and drinks by the firepit or at the skinning shed, and of course, the ranch itself is teeming with beautiful animals who proudly display themselves, except when you’re positioning to hunt! This isn’t a glorified zoo — It was a challenging place to hunt, but the guides really helped me step up. Myself and a couple of ladies so enjoyed our time here that we immediately booked hunts for next year. And the rest of the ladies in my group? They’re already repeat customers! The Lazy CK Ranch is a place to grow into and continue your passion for hunting. This is where you take your son, father, mother, daughter, girlfriend, employees, etc. to pass on your love for wildlife and the sport of hunting. This is also where experienced hunters especially bow hunters can test their skills and fill their freezers with exotic animal meat. FYI, we learned to shoot compound bows too, but hunting with them is grad-school level to this hunting kindergartner. You’ll have to pay me with another Lazy CK hunt to get me to shut up about this place. It is so worth it!
My 2nd trip to the Lazy CK Ranch and I couldn’t be happier about the results of this trip. I managed to arrow two great trophies, a Moufon ram on the first evening and an Axis buck two days later. The ranch had contacted me in advance asking which animals I was looking to hunt. As soon as I arrived, my guide Scott and I got together to work on a game plan. After unpacking and taking a few practice shots, we were off after a Moufon. It took four tries to get within range before I took a 47 yard shot and the ram was mine. Two days later and after six prior attempts over the previous two days, I managed to draw on and finally let an arrow fly, making a perfect shot on an Axis buck from 32 yards. In between I saw several other exotics I could have shot, including a pair of Addax bucks, but another hunter in camp was looking for one, so I passed and a couple days later he managed to take one of those same animals. Additionally, yet another hunter in camp was looking for a Bison and at one point my guide Scott suggested where they might be, and sure enough, a few minutes later that hunter put a crossbow bolt through his trophy. In summary: great hunting, great food, cozy accommodations, experience guides, and wonderful camaraderie. I can't get back again soon enough!
The Lazy CK Ranch is a great place to bow hunt and I will definitely be returning for a fall hunt this year. The variety and quality of game is amazing and the guides, food, and accommodations are best in class. My guide called in my spring turkey to within 20 yards for an easy chip shot and we had several exciting stalks on larger game resulting in me arrowing a Scimitar Oryx. A less than perfect shot required a lengthy tracking job in which the owner himself joined in for a successful recovery. The Lazy CK team is committed to excellence and a best in class hunting experience from start to finish. I highly recommend heading to the Texas Hill Country and experience it for yourself.
Great hunt with great friends. Scott was a excellent guide and put me on a excellent 10 point white tale. Already planning to go back next year for a axis deer and a black buck .
Wonderful hunting and beautiful accommodations! We had a great time, enjoyed friendly and helpful staff, as well as delicious meals. The property is spectacular and we will definitely go back!
