LeRoy City Lines is a public bus service connecting the communities of Chester (Iowa), Le Roy and Grand Meadow with Rochester. Currently, the route consists of two trips each weekday morning and afternoon.
With the creation of LeRoy City Lines, public bus service to the city of Rochester (via Grand Meadow) has been restored. Service had existed for many years until the previous bus company discontinued the route in November of 2014. Thanks to the persistence of many Mayo Clinic employees who commute to the city of Rochester daily, other solutions were considered to maintain a commuter option. A self-organized van pool was operated for about 10 months before being discontinued in September of 2015. The LeRoy Economic Development Authority then joined the discussions and embarked on owning and operating its own bus service. In November of 2016 the EDA purchased a 32-passenger bus and will began offering daily trips to and from Rochester on December 1, 2016. In May, the EDA purchased a second, 22-passenger bus, and began offering two daily AM and PM routes to and from Rochester on a 90-day test basis. The second route was made permanent in September. In October 2016, all routes were exapnded to now start and end in Chester, Iowa.
