I'm a funeral director in the State of Missouri - I unexpectedly lost my father while he was on a trip in Florida, so I called Lewis W Mohn Funeral Home for assistance in getting him back to Missouri because they were family owned and the original person I spoke with on a Saturday seemed to be nice and knowledgeable - clearly I should have picked somewhere else because they have absolutely no customer service skills or compassion. I was ready to provide information needed on a Sunday and was informed someone would call me on Monday not that they bothered to let me know they had even received my dad or anything Turns out that Rick who told me a funeral director would call me back on Monday is in fact a Funeral Director and the manager - which makes me think he just doesn't like to work on a Sunday! So then no call in what I considered to be a timely manner on Monday, so I followed up to essentially be told that because I wasn't there in person - I was lower on the priority list - so I at least got an email address to send the information they were needing to continue moving forward. Again, little communication until I received flight information on a Wednesday demanding payment by Thursday - which only gave the option of paying by credit card and not by check, but fine whatever. No follow-up that he made the flight okay or that there were no delays, no return to my email asking about death certificate for the cremation to be completed in Missouri, no explanation about the difference of a short or long form death certificate in FL vastly different than in Missouri, so here I am still unable to cremate my father as I still don't have what I need to do that which I think is incredibly uncaring on their part. Needless to say, if I encounter another FL death in the area - I will find someone else to assist because here I have to continue to work while my father is lying here not being cremated.
Everything was perfect from beginning to end. Kirk was so helpful and compassionate towards my family and I. We felt very confident my brother was in good hands and treated as if he was one of their own. I highly recommend Mohn Funeral Home.
My entire family was so impressed with this family owned establishment. From beginning to end, Kirk and his team showed us real kindness and compassion. I've worked with many funeral homes and never felt so welcomed and taken care of - Kirk remembered our names, our preferences, and even the vehicles we drove. As we were preparing for the procession, Kirk saw a car pulling into the driveway and said 'ah, Michael is here,' long before his face was visible! I would trust them again with no hesitation, and give them a 5+ star. It's a difficult time when their services are needed, but my whole family was so grateful the Mohn family was there for us.
I cannot thank the family at Mohn Funeral Home enough. With the unexpected loss of my father, Kirk and Bill made everything as easy as it could be. They honored my father's memory by hosting and facilitating a beautiful experience from beginning to end. Their care, thoughtfulness and gentle direction helped the event go smoothly with as much attention to detail as possible that made our experience memorable, personal, and honorable. I cannot recommend this family owned business enough.
Dear Ms. Karen B; Thank you for trusting our funeral home with the care of your loved one. We do our best to make this difficult time manageable for you and your family. That is why I am so concerned with the review you sent to us. Please accept my sincere apology for any problems or difficulties I caused you. I have been in contact with the cemetery who requests us to move families along after a graveside service. They assured me that usually another service is scheduled shortly after most services, as there is only one shelter for services to take place. I have requested them to inform us, in the future, if the family is invited to stay longer. But I do apologize if this was a problem for you are your family. As to the finger prints you requested, it is our company policy to dispose of ALL personal items when the case is closed. This includes all prints, photos or other personal items, not requested for return by the family. In this age of privacy and identity thief, we take every step possible to safe-guard the information our families entrust us with. I can assure you I also contacted Legacy Touch after your phone call and requested the finger prints. They were sent to me and I forwarded them to your email as soon as I received them. Small private service held at grave site instead of funeral home, which was fine however we were given that urgency to leave because "others were coming in after us". After an hour or more a couple of us that lingered noticed no one came in after us. Also, trying to get my mothers fingerprints for jewelry and a tattoo, Rick told me he couldn't retrieve them after they were sent to Legacy Touch...etc. etc. a day later Legacy Touch after speaking to them I received an email from Legacy touch with my mothers fingerprints. I just feel that he couldn't be bothered with me...I'm breathing. Thank you Legacy Touch for helping me get the prints.
Kirk and his team at Mohn’s Funeral home we’re outstanding during the loss of my husband’s father. Very kind, helpful and patient during a difficult time. We highly recommend this locally and family owned business.
