Official facebook page for CR at LU. Our weekly meetings: Thursdays 7-9pm when students are in session in fall/spring semesters; began 9/10/15
What?
Celebrate Recovery (CR) is an internationally established Christ-centered 12 step recovery ministry program that can help people with all types of hurts, habits, and hang-ups and it is being implemented on Liberty University’s (LU) main campus the fall of 2015.
The first hour of each weekly meeting will be a large group co-ed gathering that includes worship and teaching or a testimony. The second hour will normally consist of same-gender Open Share Groups where participants can open up in a safe environment about their personal hurts, habits, and hang-ups.
There will be various theme-specific Open Share Groups as well as General (more broad based) Hurts, Habits, & Hang-ups groups for each gender.
Who?
This ministry is promoted primarily for students and/or employees of LU who live in the greater Lynchburg, VA area during the fall and/or spring semester time frame. Participants from other CR ministries are welcome as well and guests are welcome to come check out what God is up to with #CRatLU.
If you (LU student or not) are interested in possibly being a leader/volunteer in this ministry, we look for someone who is maturing in Christ who has experienced freedom and transformation through their relationship with Christ. If they are experienced with CR, or another recovery ministry, this is a plus and they may not require as much training on the front end depending on their serving role. The commitment for most volunteering roles will be 2+ hours per Thursday evening, along with one two-hour Saturday training meeting per month.
There will be various ways to serve(*):
- set-up/take-down for meeting nights
- greeting
- helping newcomers
- CR Resource Table
- helping with food/beverages,
- production, technology, laptop operator, ..
- worship leading
- facilitating small groups (must have participated in a CR through the 4th step)
- prayer
- and more
*In some cases, CSER may be approved.
Why?
To help people be right with God, themselves, and others.
Where?
Room Change: Most spring 2016 Thursday large group meetings will be in “DH1114” (the room next door to where we met last semester), except on 1/28/16 and 2/4/16 we’ll meet in DH1105 for large group. We'll also use around 9 nearby smaller classrooms during the evening after large group.
