Dr. Jennifer Sidari founded The University of Scranton’s photography club in 2008 and served as director of a weekly, off-campus open-mic venue. She was also passionate about her membership in the university’s Special Jesuits Liberal Arts philosophy honors program in which she excelled. Needless to say, Dr. Sidari was a lover and promoter of music and the arts.
The University of Scranton 2009 graduate Jennifer Sidari, MD. Dr. Sidari passed away on May 29, 2013, just a few weeks after graduating from The Commonwealth Medical College in Scranton. She was about to begin her residency at Janet Weis’ Children’s Hospital near Danville. Jennifer was a resident of West Pittston.
She was a selfless and compassionate humanitarian. Shortly before her passing, Dr. Sidari visited Haiti, where she arrived with bags of medicine, supplies, and toys. She left with only the clothes on her back, having donated all of her personal items to those in need. For her many acts of generosity and humble service, Dr. Sidari earned The Commonwealth Medical College’s Global Pride Award.
The Photography Club at the University of Scranton will exist to serve a multitude of purposes. The members of the club will be exposed to the art of photography, with lectures from volunteer presenters, free online resources, and opportunities to visit local photography hotspots. Additionally, it is the goal of the organization to turn our hobby and passion into something that will exist to benefit the entire Scranton community. Service Photography will be one of the primary goals of the organization, and it will enable both novice and experienced photographers the opportunities to take snapshots for service.
