Pacifica State Beach is the southernmost of Pacifica, California's large beaches, it is a 0.75 mile long crescent shaped beach located at the mouth of the San Pedro Valley in downtown Pacifica off State Route 1, in San Mateo County.Pacifica State Beach is one of the most popular beginner surfing spots in the San Francisco area. Among surfers it is commonly known as Linda Mar Beach because it fronts Pacifica's Linda Mar subdivision. It is a State Beach managed by the City of Pacifica through an operating agreement with California State Parks. The Taco Bell restaurant on the beach side of the highway is reputed to be the world's most scenic Taco Bell location.Pacifica State Beach provides habitat for the western snowy plover, a shorebird which is designated as threatened under the Endangered Species Act.Between 1989 and 2005, Pacifica State Beach was the focus of an extensive beach habitat restoration program, in association with the San Pedro Creek flood control and habitat restoration. In 2002, as part of a partnership with the Pacifica Land Trust and the California Coastal Conservancy, this involved a $2.2 million purchase and removal of two ocean side homes and surrounding acreage for the purpose of beach and estuary restoration. This project was identified as a Top Restored Beach by the American Shore and Beach Preservation Association in 2005, cited as "...an example of a well-planned, well-executed coastal project that is the product of cooperative efforts of the local community, state and federal agencies, scientists, engineers and citizens. The complex beach and habitat restoration project involved over 10 regulatory and permitting agencies, funding from eight granting agencies and the active participation of eight environmental groups. It is one of the first beaches to utilize managed retreat as a method of shoreline protection. In addition to beach nourishment, it has restored habitat for four threatened and endangered species and enhanced community access with expanded parking lots, trails and new restrooms. Over 1 million people visit this beach annually".

Walked on Devils Slide road and admired the view. Took a little over an hour to walk from end to the other ans back.  There were signs along the way that described what was around you, along with some history. Lots of hawks and bird varieties.  Old WW1 ww2? artillery.  The view was incredible! Don't get off the road, though. Lots of poison oak!  Also, there were 2 break ins with the parking lot. No cameras. Officer said it happens there all the time, so maybe set up a go-pro and catch them if you happen to walk it.

Really awesome beach! Would give 5 stars but it’s right next to the highway which is a bit busy and also doesn’t have a cute boardwalk or anything or far enough away from a town that it’s chill. Regardless, it wasn’t too busy and had some nice views still, many families and some dogs. Not a super long beach, and some rocks at the southern corner. Many many surfers out on the waves which was cool!

Beautiful and scenic beach in the heavenly Pacifica. It has restrooms and offers 4 hours parking for $7. It also has cleaning stations with fresh water. Weekends are crazy busy as parking becomes impossible.

Nice beach, lots of surfers and people in the water. The parking lot is paid and can get full, but we circled around and managed to get a spot from someone leaving. Dogs are allowed on leashes, and there were lots of people walking their dogs on the beach. It can get really windy, and can be cold if the fog/clouds cover the sun so bringing a light jacket is a good idea. Also, the popular Taco Bell Cantina is here, and has a great view of the ocean and beach, and they allow dogs on the outside patio seating.

My dad and my niece went here for an afternoon picnic. One of the best visit we had! My niece and I went for swimming even if its foggy and cold. Totally fun! Luckily there's a toilet and shower just infront of the carpark.

Parking can be a bear at times. It's a great view during the less foggy days. Great for relaxing and taking in the atmosphere. Several shops and eateries are nearby within walking distance. Public restrooms are available. If you're looking for smoother sand with fewer crowds, a short drive south may be a better option.

Amazing and accessible beach just a few miles south of the San Francisco City Limits. Great little beach town with lots of shops & restaurants & live music. Fishing pier and so much more. Surrounded by hiking/biking trails

Came here for the dog surfing championships and it was super fun. Love how there's a taco bell cantina. Appreciate the vibe and just the sounds of the waves, watching the syrfers and looking at the houses on hills. Perfect place to spend time with loved ones.

Very nice beach. It was very crowded under very nice weather on summer time. Parking could be a challenge.

Annual dog surfing world championships was fun and filled with so many dogs. This blue hawk dog was the coolest dog on the beach
