Lions was formed by George Balatinos Sr. & Jr. as a subsidiary of B&B Capital Industries Inc. which is a Commercial Real Estate company started years ago by Balatinos Sr. himself. Since then he's expanded into various parts of real estate in Philadelphia, and most recently, the construction of a state of the art parking lot. The parking lot, known as the Lions Lot parking lot, is what sparked the new company, The Lions Investment Group, LLC comprised of George Sr. & George Jr.
This is first venture the Balatinos family has taken into Commercial Real Estate development. Formerly, Balatinos Sr. operated B&B Capital as a small Commercial Real Estate company that was strictly comprised of occasional acquisitions and real estate management.
When George Balatinos Jr. stepped in with his father, they formed the Lions Investment Group, LLC which was a specific target at not only Commercial Real Estate acquisitions and management, but more specifically Commercial Real Estate development. And the first development project that the Lions Investment Group has taken on is an approximately 100 car parking lot that will initially be partially leased to University Place Associates (UPA), the first Real Estate company that was formed and dedicated to building ONLY LEED Platinum Commercial Office Buildings, starting with 2.0 University Place, located at 30 N. 41st St. in University City, Philadelphia. Lions owns the property directly across the street from 2.0 University Place, and we've decided as our first development project to construct this state of the art private parking lot for the tenants of UPA's 2.0 University Place.
This is how the Lions Investment Group has begun their involvement with Philadelphia Commercial Real Estate development, and it is one of many development projects to come as Lions continues their expansion and acquisitions across the Philadelphia region.
