Avoid this dentist.  They will ask you to modify just about every appoint you make, many times cancel appointments, but should there be an instance where you fill in an appointment with less than 1 day notice for someone else who has cancelled and show up slightly late they will refuse to see you and assess a late fee. One time of this is all you need to hinder a relationship for the many favors we have done for you. This is a business practice I do not condone.
Very bad business. They will cancel your appointment 5 times with no compensation, but if you show up 10 minutes late they will not see you and hound you to the ends of the earth for a cancellation fee, going so far as to violate HIPAA regulations by incorrectly billing another family member. Run away at all costs.
Called, receptionist answered my inquiry about a new patient appointment with “We have 75 people. You’re going to need to call somewhere else or get on the list.” And when I asked about the list, she just repeated “We have 75 people” in an impatient way and hung up the phone.
Lovely receptionist. However, Dr. Fonas handles all the billing and it is obvious she is not an account. Received double billing which was caught by my insurance company. The bill was then sent to me a 3rd time. Just received yet another bill without a date of service or treatment received. I called her office and left a rather firm message. She called me screaming! Shared a few choice words with her and hung up. She called back. Blocked her number. Wow! Some one needs to hire a professional account!
Was a patient and will not be returning. Recently chipped a tooth and I called to inquire about pricing to get my tooth filled. When the receptionist asked when I wanted to make an appointment for; I told her I was looking at pricing at other dentists before making an appointment so I can save money. She stated “Dr. Fonas would not be happy I was looking into going to another dentist and would most likely tell me not to return if I go elsewhere.” After going back and forth, she said Dr. Fonas would be calling to potentially discuss giving me a discount since my whole family goes there. Over a week as gone by and received no call.
I really enjoyed getting to be seen by Dr. Fonas, her and her staff were very attentive and professional! The environment was nice and clean as well. I look forward to going back to for all my dental needs.
Okay, so here's what happened: While getting two fillings in my molars, Dr. Fonas removed a filling in my front tooth and proceeded to sand the tooth down without telling me or gaining my consent, completely and permanently changing my smile. With four hands and a tiny rotating saw in my mouth, I felt paralyzed. Dr. Fonas really ought to have told me what was going on, and asked me if it was okay. Altering somebody's face without their informed consent is so wrong that it honestly took me a few weeks to believe it even happened. I was violated. Was it malpractice? From what I have read this was both unethical and illegal according to the ADA. All procedures must gain consent. I also doubt that this would have happened if I wasn't a young female. It's messed up. It kinda felt like I went in for knee surgery and the doctor decided to straighten out my nose while she was at it. Further, my teeth went from painless to painful after the fillings. This may be normal, but I haven't been able to chew on that side of my mouth since. I even went in for a check up regarding the pain. Simply put, I do not trust this dentist due to her lack of transparency and communication. Please respect your patients' bodily autonomy and communicate to gain consent, Dr. Fonas. Update 5/14/21: Despite the fact that I am no longer a patient, Dr. Lisa Fonas called my cell phone this morning. She requested that I remove this review, citing that it is "mean." This review is entirely factual and I respectfully deny this request.
I have been going to this dentist office for my entire life. I went there when it was under another doctor who was just as wonderful as Dr. Fonas. Dr. Fonas and the staff have always been so kind warm and welcoming. I completely trust that they will give me the best care possible.
I have been going to Dr. Fonas for years and still go there even though I moved further away. She and her staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They are also pretty flexible with scheduling if you have an urgent situation.
The staff is nice and they get you in & out. Dr. Fonas also checks my throat for bumps and enlarged thyroid, which a dentist has never done for me before so I appreciate that.
