The Little Red Barn is the first authentic Texas steakhouse we have ever been to and the experience was truly unlike anything we've been to. It is popular with the locals and is recognized as a historic business by the Texas Historical Commission. The service is incredibly well organized and fast, we had our salads and our drink order before we even had a chance to sit down! The menu was simple, the food was great and filling. However, the breading on the fried chicken was plain as it was meant to dip in the gravy. My boyfriend enjoyed his steak and I enjoyed the large ranch dressing that was served.
Went for lunch with some coworkers. I had the 8 ounce sirloin. Might as well, I haven't been there in a very long time. I expected a good steak, and I ordered the steak medium rare. It came with a salad, rolls, and a large bake potato. My steak came, and it was dry and not medium rare. It came close to well done. I didn't want to make a fuss about it because we were on a timed schedule, and I didn't want to wait. I ate it, and it was dry and had very little flavor. I expect more for my $30 lunch. I now remember why I hadn't been there in a long time. Great atmosphere, just not great steaks. I should have gone somewhere else.
this was our very first time visiting. We were greeted and seated right away. our waitress so so amazing I wish I could remember her name. Every meal come with a house salad, it was okay not my favorite but the dressing was good. The waitress brought us a few rolls and omg they were amazing. Let’s just say I took some home with us. they were absolutely delicious and they have plenty of delicious butter. the drinks weee also good and my husband enjoyed his 32 oz beer. I got the 6 oz sirloin with the loaded baked potato. the steak was a tiny over cooked for medium but it was still delicious. The baked potato was one of my favorite things and will definitely be back for another one. I would get the steak medium rare next time though. my husband tried the chop steak 12 oz and he said it was delicious, he also tried the steak fries and got a loaded baked potato as well. we had an amazing time celebrating my best friends birthday and definitely recommend giving this place a try. we will definitely be going back soon.
In my opinion, this place is a bit overrated and overpriced for what you get. Steaks were seasoned well and tender but overcooked. One with baked potato was supposed to be medium well and one with French fries medium rare. Warning they charge extra for fixing for baked potato. Bread was delicious! Service wasn’t great. When we got there the host just looked at us and walked away - we didn’t realize we were supposed to follow him. Then our server just put the menu sign up and didn’t explain to us what was included or the process - also seemed irritated when we said it was our first time. I do think it was just the particular server we got - we were hearing others do a much better job. Lastly, we were sat near an area where staff fold utensils into napkins. We got to listen to them gossip the entire time. Again overall, not impressed.
It was our first time there and had heard many stories about it. The menu is fair. The presentation of the food was decently presentable, with an exception that my wife’s steak had to be remade 2 times and still wasn’t correct, over all experience was present. The waitresses were very much attentive, and engaging, and definitely gave the restaurant life! I would return again and recommend good atmosphere especially for date night.
Hostess, front cashier, bartender, and server were great. Salad with green goddess dressing was wonderful. The steak wasn't worth the cost through. Mine came out well when I asked for medium, it was corrected immediately. The drink suggested by the server Barnyard....something...was great. Fried shrimp was meh. Baked potato was fine. I could eat here again but it wouldn't be the first thing that came to mind. Parking: Some stray dogs roaming around.
Wow. Seated IMMEDIATELY with a salad already on the table. Great service. Amazing food. The shrimp and Philly were SPOT ON. Wish they had the peach cobbler. But I will have to come back for it : ** boyfriend and I did not care for the sweet potato fries. But the baked potato was great!Food: 5/5
There's lots to see as well as great food and services. My family and I have been eating there for nearly 40 years. The food and services have always been delivered with perfection. I will always recommend this well established historical restaurant to anyone, anytime.Food: 5/5
We were visiting from out of town and this place was recommended. The staff were friendly and the food was great. Don’t forget about the desert and the Corona Margarita was amazing .Food: 5/5
We ate here for Father's Day, four in our party. We ordered Steak and Shrimp 2, Shishkabob with a side of Shrimp*, and Ribeye. I loved my meal and my husband enjoyed his ribeye although he did comment on how thin it was. Our guests' ordered their steaks done at medium temperature and they were oozing red, so more like medium rare. They boxed it up to re-cook at home. The seasonings on the steaks was very complimentary. The butterfly shrimp were your basic breaded shrimp, the kind you can buy in a large box at Sam's Club. I expected more. Everyone agreed the baked potatoes were delicious, as were the sides of green beans we all ordered. Beware though...you pay extra for each topping on the "loaded" potato. We ended our meal with one serving of apple pie ala mode and that was delicious. *Make yourself a mental note, if you order a side of shrimp, be prepared to pay upwards of $12 for four shrimp. I never would have ordered it if the price was posted anywhere within viewing range not on menu board or wall board. You're better off buying the shrimp meal for a few dollars more and feasting on leftovers at home. Our server was friendly and efficient. He seemed to navigate his many tables well. At the end of the day, our meal for four people, including drinks, one dessert, and the overly-priced shrimp mentioned above was $157. I'm still debating whether it was worth it.
