Had an amazing time at the Little River State park. Sites vary from remote to near the washroom blocks, lean-to's and little cabins. In walking distance to the boat launch and beach, the sites also vary in size between just enough for a car/tent to sites bigger for a trailer & numerous cars family and friends visits. Washrooms were clean and so were the showers remember your quarters; $0.50 for 4 minutes to $1.25 for 12 mins and yes the hot water is really that . Boat launch had a small dock and parking for the trailer a little further up. Beach had areas to sit, roaped off area to swim and picnic table to eat lake side. Nice hiking trails located not to far from the camp sites and each had a little area to park. On-site wood for purchase was also reasonable, dry and only $6 per bundle of 6 to 8ish logs. All in all I can now understand why this is such a popular VT State Park! We hope to be back soon...
Gorgeous park, as they make them in Vermont. If you are afraid of dirt roads, stay away. Please drive slowly on the dirt road, there are several families with children that live on that road. The camping here is great, the employees are friendly, what more can you ask for?
I have camped here for 14 years, my husband since his childhood. The campsites are nice and showers. There really is no playground. A swing set with no swings and a little bus to sit in that’s caution taped off, along with a play set with slide that’s caution taped off. The staff is what I have trouble with. Not welcoming. We pulled up at 1:30. Instead of saying, “Welcome to Little River!” My hubby said, “Sorry, we’re a little early,”. The response was, “Try not to be so early next year!” Instead of being helpful, they like to sit and wait for you to do something wrong so they can drive over in their golf cart to tell you all about it. The B side’s beach was closed while we were there, so we had to pack up our cars to drive over to A side’s beach so you’d think they’d have a little leniency on parking. Nope! One guy parked in front of the chain to the entrance to the beach where there was no sign that said no parking. The parking is very small and no spots left. so Instead of going down to ask whose car it was, the worker was writing him a $100 ticket. Someone knew whose car it was and told him so he could move. Brian the recreation director seems to love his job. Very nice. Kyle that works down at the water is very nice and helpful but most seemed to just go through the motions and are not helpful at all.
Nice place to sleep! The camp we chose was lovely and had a beautiful view! There are a lot of places in the camp where you can have a beautiful view! The beach is cozy and calm! You need sandals to go into the water if you don't want to get hurt by the rocks! One of the bad things is that no one had told us that to shower, you need four 25¢ to start the water for 4 minutes! And you can't get change if you only have your cards none of us had cash since we pay everything by card! The other bad thing was that no one came and told us the hours you're allowed to make noise, so we thought it was 23h like a lot of camping we went before! And instead of asking us to stop making noise or to tell us the “noise” hours, the others campers just call security which came ONE HOUR after the maximum “noise” hour...
Absolutely beautiful park. We stayed 2 nights in September on a cross country trip. Just randomly found this place and loved it. The park is well kept. Lake is amazing! They have great hiking trails. People seem to really understand the quiet hours and nights are silent! Bathrooms are well kept and updated. Showers do require quarters. 25 cents gets you 2 minutes. Highly recommend this place! Pet friendly also!
Nice park, many good secluded sites. Nice gravel beach for swimming and launching small boats. Bathrooms are clean and updated. Plenty of hiking to be done, and the trails within the park have very well done historical interpretation signs. Be prepared for a slow drive in on the road to the park. GPS may say five minutes, it's 20. The road is in rough shape.
We stayed here for one night in fall of 2020. Truly amazing place to witness the view of sunlight in the early morning and fall colors. It has washroom with hotwater. Bathrooms are clean and spacious. However, showering does cost extra money. 4 min for 2 quarters, 8 min for 4 quarters and so on. The best part is you get shades for installing your tent, so it's safe when it rains. Nearby water supply to every camping site for washing. Very pleasant Environment suitable for family and group of friends. Please check out this place, you won't regret.
This campground is everything you could ever want in a state run park. It's gorgeous and heavily wooded, situated on the shores of the Waterbury Reservoir. Most sites have waterfront views and some even have water access. They sell firewood and ice block and cubed. If you have exact change you can help yourself any time of day. Super friendly staff, very helpful. This is now my go to car camping park in Vermont.
I enjoyed a two night stay at Little River State Park campground. Good staff, good sites, good shower facilities. I liked that there was a town nearby but not so close as to be noisy. The campground is quiet and feels smaller than it is. The beach and boat ramp are good. The lake is beautiful.
The facilities in loop A are horrible whereas the renovated facilities in loop B are very nice. The biggest complaint I have though is the 3 mile paved/dirt road to get to the campground is horrible! I can't believe this is acceptable for a State park. It is enough for me not to go back to this campsite.
