For a fifth year in a row, Littleton Public Schools was Accredited with Distinction, the highest academic accreditation rating given by the Colorado Department of Education. LPS is one of only eleven school districts in the state, and the only school district in the Denver Metro area, to have received this rating every year since its creation.
Who We Are:
Littleton Public Schools (LPS) is a premier school district located a few miles south of downtown Denver. LPS is nationally known for its academic excellence. The district serves 28 square miles and includes the majority of the city of Littleton, town of Columbine Valley, and portions of the municipalities of Bow Mar, Centennial, Greenwood Village, and Englewood.� �With a student population of approximately 15,000, LPS is known for being “big enough to serve you, and small enough to know you.” LPS offers a comprehensive education from preschool through Grade 12. Students attend 13 elementary schools, four middle schools, three high schools, several alternative programs, a preschool, and two charter schools. LPS offers National Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence and a high school International Baccalaureate program. �Preschool, as well as, half-day and full-day kindergarten options are available (some full-day kindergarten options are free). All elementary schools offer before- and after-school childcare and summer childcare.

The LPS community is committed to keeping class sizes at a level that children can receive personal attention.
Staff and Community:
A major strength of LPS is the commitment and involvement of its staff and community. Schools have business partners, and parent and community volunteers donate about 240,000 hours each year.
Finance:
LPS Finance Department has received the Distinguished Budget Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) annually since 1993. We have also received the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting from GFOA and the Association of School Business Officials annually since 1988.
Security:
LPS has been named among the top 500 security operations around the world by Security Magazine, the security industry's trade publication. LPS is also ranked top 20 in the nation in K–12 education for safety and security. LPS has also received the Pinnacle of Achievement Award in Safety and Security Management.
