Rather disappointed lately. My parents have plots there and perpetual care was a major consideration when they purchased. For the last several years, I've observed many headstones and corner stones covered by grass... some nearly completely covered. My parents were told they had to purchase a flat headstone to make it easier to mow and provide lawn care but apparently nobody is really caring for the grave sites. Also, my flowers were recently removed. Yes, they were white and gold poinsettias, but even in March, that looks better than empty vases.
Our experience with Live Oaks was and continues to be very favorable. My father was buried there in 2009 and recently my mom. Laurie took care of us and did a fabulous job. Mr Johnson and other staff did an exceptional job at the grave side. We couldn't have asked for better service. Extremely caring. We greatly appreciate the kind, complete and thorough handling of our needs. Greatly trust that others also will have good experiences when it matters so much.
My mother-in-law passed away very suddenly from a brief illness, less than one day of illness. Her untimely passing understandably placed stress on my wife as the only child who was responsible for her mother's arrangements. We met with Laurie Bowdoin-Burns at Live Oak Memorial Gardens to arrange her mother's burial. Laurie was extremely kind and considerate toward my wife answering all questions and providing helpful information. The service from Laurie was even more extraordinary when you consider Hurricane Dorian had just passed through Charleston 2 days earlier adversely affecting all our homes and places of business. Laurie went the extra mile to help my wife during a difficult time for all of us.
I come from out of town to visit my grandmother's and great grandfather's burial site. My mother makes beautiful floral arrangements for both sites. I have come on numerous occasions to find both floral arrangements are missing! You can imagine the disgust that I feel when I find that the flowers that were made by HAND are missing! When I called to report this matter, I was told that they periodically remove old flowers. Lies! There are old, discolored, misshapen flowers on other burial sites. If you looking to bury your loved one, GO SOME PLACE ELSE!
Customer service is lacking with office staff. My parent's have plots there since the 1060's. When we got ready to bury my dad, they wouldn't proceed until we paid extra to split out one of the plots. They wouldn't accept a check with my signature because my name wasn't on the top of the check even though I'm authorized to sign-said it could be a forgery. We ordered the headstone from Brown Memorial cost less and they refused delivery because they said they needed more paperwork and "why didn't we go through them?" The interred clients have more personality and compassion than they do!
Laurie went above and beyond the call of duty when the memorial service for my mom caused a huge glitch in our plans. In dealing with the funeral home and the problem there, I completely forgot to go by the cemetery to pay for their services. Laurie came in on her day off to help me. She was conscientious, considerate and efficient.
Today is 3 years since you were called home, Forever n always in my heart!!
I love to go visit my loved ones and it's a really nice and quiet.
