Wow!!! Georgia's hidden gem for the most authentic and tastiest, southern cooking! Grandma Lockett is a true master in the kitchen and serves up quality food every single time. Our top favorites off the menu are the grilled cheese, fried chicken, mac n cheese and banana pudding! Definitely worth the scenic drive if you're in the Macon area.
The food was excellent, so glad I have a chance to eat at my family's restaurant. Came all the way from Milwaukee WI
Amazing food, feels like you are a member of the family. Bbq chicken is the best! The Chef will ask you to call her Granny and she is the kindest, most caring soul on Earth today. Do yourself a favor and visit this true gem. Get the sweet tea and green beans and tell them John sent you!
Grandma Lockett was a joy to talk to and made me THE MOST BEAUTIFUL AND JUICY porkchop I have EVER had in my entire life. We will most definitely be back! Love the atmosphere and the love she puts into her food. Couldn't ask for more!!
Excellent food and very nice owners. Highly recommend the BBQ chicken, mac-n-cheese, butter beans and dressing with gravy. If you find yourself on I-75 in Forsyth, it's well worth driving 20 minutes to eat at Lockett's.
I grew up farming near the small town that Lockett's is located in. It is operated by the Lockett family and almost everything is prepared by Fanny, aka Grandma, herself. Their restaurant has survived for over 15 years in fairly remote area that rarely has much out of town traffic, however I often get to enjoy meeting people who have traveled across the country and drive 25+ miles out of their way to get a taste of this Lockett's Kitchen they've heard about! I love the food almost as much as I love the family!
This has to be the best kept secret and most hidden gem in central Georgia. Snuggled in "downtown" Culloden I met a few of my closest motorcycling friends for a Sunday lunch and was amazed at the fantastic fare that was served up. My daughter and I each had a fried chicken plate with two sides each. My portion was huge and the taste of that chicken. ... well, better than finger lickin good. If only the Colonel had Lockett's secret recipe,... it was that good. My sides, yams and butter beans were phenomenal. The country style cooking, down-home and laid back atmosphere, excellent service, and great portion size for the price make this a destination worthy for anyone.
Lockett Kuntry Cooking is Georgia's best kept secret! We were driving home from a family reunion in Pine Mountain, GA, and decided to take the scenic route home to Savannah, GA. We looked up towns that were on our route, and saw Culloden. Then I looked up restaurants near Culloden, and Lockett Kuntry Cooking was the first one to pop up, with the best reviews too! From the outside this place looks pretty run-down and we thought it was closed down, but once you approach the door, the smell of fried chicken fills the air. We went inside and were greeted with a warm, "How y'all doin?" followed by a get right to business, "What y'all want to drink?" We both ordered the white meat fried chicken, my wife had the potato salad and squash, and I had the field peas and fried okra. When they brought out the food I was not expecting to see a HUGE chicken breast with the drummet and wing still attached. This was HANDS DOWN the best fried chicken I have ever had! The potato salad was also delish! We also ordered the pecan pie for dessert, and it was the best pecan pie I have ever had, still warm and gooey! Sorry Grandma! lol When we went to leave I told Miss Fannie Lou Lockett that she would put Paula Deen to shame, and Miss Lockett smiled and laughed. You know you got good chicken when Truett Cathy himself comes for your chicken! Just a warning, this is a cash or check only joint.
Awesome chicken and pork chops. Definitely get the peas and okra. When Truitt Cathy comes to eat your chicken you know it's good! Love Granny
Everything we had had a wonderful flavor and taste. There is a good choice of foods and the portions were plentiful. Great service and friendly people! ....A home kind of feeling!
