What a perfect place for a wedding- especially for couples who are looking for something more than outdoor photos. The grounds and paths are spectacular, but even more, so is being able to incorporate elements of the main building- and even indoors! I also do recommend an evening stroll for a few nighttime photos.Visited onWeekendWait time1 hr+
Always love a quick walk here. There are bathrooms in the visitor center. The trails are well marked and maintained. It's a beautiful place with easy trails. You can stay 30 minutes or walk for a couple hours - that's what I like about this place. And you forget that you are right on Rt 9
We were there for the annual car show, which was spectacular with about 400 cars in attendance. Great event. Attendees were respectful of cars. Facilities were good. Fun time a participant and spectator!! Our cost was $20 as an car owner/participant.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Unfortunately the mansion was not available for visit today, but the grounds were open for a lovely little hike and some great views. At least the entrance to the grounds was free.
A lovely understated mansion with beautiful grounds to explore. The staff is very welcoming, knowledgeable, and proud of the estate. We would definitely return for another visit or special event.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot surePrice for adult entry$11–15
Explored the grounds only as we did not save enough time for more. Beautiful estate. Pictures here don't show the extent the grounds.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot surePrice for adult entryFree
Locust Grove is a beautiful venue for a smaller wedding 100 guests or less. Their reception room is very modern and they include tables, chairs, a kitchen and more for an affordable rate that goes back into their non-profit. I love when their gardens are in bloom and they have a great view too!
I'm glad they keep this open to the public as the trails are very fun to go around on and take excellent pictures there! Here's some of the great views you'll see here! We had our wedding here and it is the most beautiful spot! We were planning during COVID and it was the perfect venue with both outdoor and spread-out indoor space. It was able to accommodate any issue we might have run into. It's also wheelchair accessible, which was important to us. The grounds and gardens are perfect for photos and an outdoor ceremony. We had the cocktail hour on the covered patio and the reception in the large hall. Ken was so easy to work with throughout the entire process, from first scoping out the venue to the day of the wedding. He was responsive and amenable to anything we needed. We also love that Locust Grove is an open park and we can come back any time we want to enjoy the beautiful grounds, gardens, hiking, and scenery.
UPDATE: FRIDAY, DECEMBER 9, 2022, 3:02AM: As far as I can tell, I did not notice or see any changes at the Locust Grove Estate. The staff and volunteers remain professional, caring and helpful. The Estate, especially the main part with the galleries, remains very clean and appealing with all the art displayed in it. Granted, the outside grounds have no flowers, but then again, it is December. I look forward to returning in March, 2023, if not sooner. I had the honor and pleasure of being one of the Readers at the Moon Serpent and Bone 3rd Annual Yule Market. Since I AM a fanatic for punctuality, I arrived between 3-3:30PM so that I could take a walk around the grounds. The staff and volunteers were genuinely helpful and professional; I felt like a total VIP. Also, I was so happy at how committed everyone was to stopping the spread of covid19. Face masks worn correctly snd constantly, hand sanitizers, even hot water in the bathrooms. The grounds are beautifully maintained and I look forward to returning next year, and exploring the grounds a little more. Oh, and there is so much gorgeous art work in the building, too.
