The Louisa County Historical Society was organized in 1964. It maintains two museums: The Louisa County Heritage Center, 609 N. James L. Hodges Ave., Wapello, and the Columbus Community Heritage Museum, 122 Maple St., Columbus Junction.

This is a very nice local museum! There is a lot of space with displays from all aspects of life. They have a little bit of everything. Presently, August 2022 they are open only on Tuesdays from 10-2. You might need to plan ahead to get there on Tuesday, but it is well worth your visit. You will be surprised by the many historical displays.
There is lots of Louisa County and Iowa history on display. The museum has a lot of local genealogy if you are tracing a family history. There are many events, activities, and stage presentations.
Great place to visit, lots of great things to see and discover about Louisa County. Love the new bait shop and tractors.
A lot of memories brought back.
