Loved this art gallery; it was a perfect way to escape the cold weather and see traditional paintings and sculptures. I loved seeing the beautiful Tiffany stained glass and jewelry on display and learn more about their local history in New London. Must visit if you're a local art fan!Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$11–15
There aren't many "big name" artists' works displayed, there are lots of interesting pieces tied to the history of the area. The main exhibits are presented in chronological order and the placards tell a nice story tracing the evolution of art in America. The special collections were good. We attended on a free day, so that made it even better. This isn't a big museum, but it flaunts what it has!
Actually went to see the Sweet Dreams exhibit, which was pretty cool. The desserts looked so real and beautiful. The rest of the museum was small. There were some nice paintings the rest I didn't really care for... which isn't important because everyone's eye is different. Overall it was nice to see the exhibit before it leaves and Tiffany at the front desk was very pleasant and helpful.
This is a place that you should visit. It won't be a whole day affair, but it's important. Could easily power through this with the intention of immediately going to the Florence Griswold, just down the road. It would make sense.
Excellent exhibits were being shown when we visited Tiffany was one. Very friendly customer service there too. Picnic tables were outside for seating with outdoor art to enjoy as well. We were happy we stopped.
Marvelous gem of a museum. The Google maps directions are screwie, so just follow the local signs
Very nice collection of works of American painters of several generations. Real art as opposed to “modern” art style of some museums.
