Today I went to the library, and I was greeted by a very kind librarian. She gave me a really good recommendation of a book and an author. She was so kind, even talking with me and relating to me. She was so nice to me and it really made my day. This librarians name was Jasmine. Now, I have an amazing book to read and a new author to read!
I spent last 6 months spending a lot of time here recovery from a medical issue which has resolved. Staff have been amazing. I've seen them resolve abusive clients, the place is quiet, dealing with power outages, helping me with resume, medical documents. And I have recovered and am back working full-time. I've been to the other librarys and this one is 100% the best. Best staff. Not even close.
nice place for study
Love the study room. Big windows allow the view of mountains to accompany your study. Day and night, sunshine or rain.
There's not enough seating for laptop work. The big wall opposite the elevator doors on 2nd floor can easily receive tables against the concrete wall.
Updated review because there is more seating now which is awesome :- Rest still stands - It's a very nice library. Loving the updates! Think having to wear a mask while seated miles from everyone AND behind a screen ridiculous and very uncomfortable. Why not put rules in place like all the restaurants/cafe's that while seated only it's ok to remove the mask?Tutoring & groups there to socialize at full talking volume is a real problem. I saw a lady politely ask a group to talk quietly and they were very rude to her. Are quiet libraries not a thing anymore? If so, maybe some signs or a social lounge area?
Great Place to focus and get your things done as needed. You can get a PC access for 1-2 hours depending how busy it gets. The staff is pleasant and helpful, lots of tables and room to study and concentrate. Get yourself a North Van Library Card and enjoy all the resources you're given. P.S. 3 hours free parking downstairs is a great bonus.
Excellent staff. It was my first time there. All the librarians took the time to give me information on the resources available and showed me where the sections are. Tax dollar well spent- a great community hub!
Have the rules changed? I remember when libraries were a place for peaceful reading and studying - apparently it is now acceptable to talk on your phone and share your conversation with everyone around you, tutor students at full volume and generally carry on as if you're at a coffee shop. While this library is beautiful to look at, if you're searching for a place to study in peace, this isn't it.
The middle-aged staff with short light-color hair is absolutely rude and condescending to patrons. She talks to people like lecturing to children. The library needs to check-in with the quality of its staff. Otherwise beautiful library with lots of sun and various selection of books.
