Great service. The librarians were great and super helpful. But with the school taking it over, the inventory is dramatically reduced and the hours are terrible. In my opinion, we need a separate space for this branch to be considered a "public library".
I often visit this location with my little ones and I love the small town feel this library gives me. The staff is super helpful and will even request a book to be added if they are unable to locate it. I am able to rotate my home library with their checkout limits being 50 items per library card, giving my children free range to grab whatever the desire. The children’s book area is huge and they keep a good rotation of best sellers. There also activities and study rooms that can be checked out at the patrons convenience. I was even able to add my library card to my Overdrive and Libby apps. Placing books on hold and transfer is quick and painless with an area that allows patrons to help themselves to their books holds.
It’s too bad this “public library” isn’t open during school hours. Anthem needs to create a new location.
Great library and so convenient to have a library so close to home! I love that I can order books online and get notified when the books are ready for pick up. Unfortunately, the hours had to be changed due to Deer Valley School District, but I don't hold it against the library since they are sharing space with the high school. Honestly, Deer Valley School District, it was fine to share the space for over twenty years I've lived in Anthem since 2000 and now all of a sudden there's an issue with sharing the space! Just another reason I'm not a fan of DVUSD!
Within the larger Maricopa Library system, you are able to get a great variety of books and other materials. I have been really pleased with the selection We’ve been able to request and hold. However, I’m extremely disappointed in the new library hours. 2:30-8pm are very difficult hours to take young children to the library—especially when the entire children’s section is full of teenagers waiting on a ride after school. Additionally, the lack of children’s programming is also frustrating—prior to the pandemic, we had enjoyed the children’s story times, but now our choices are limited to online options. Really hoping the library will return to normal hours and programming.
Amazing Library! This is one of my favorite libraries. The staff is always helpful, and they're always polite while being helpful! The only reason I knock off a star is because of the teenagers in there constantly SCREAMING and playing inappropriate content on the computers that everyone can see. The worst part is is that the staff don't do anything about it. I get there's a high school next door, but that doesn't make it a playground! I just ask staff please give these kids some sort of warning! But there's a good book selection and the study rooms are beautiful!
Nice library, but the hours of operation are strange. Only open in the evenings, limited hours on the weekends and closed on Fridays. These hours make using the library or checking out books difficult.
This library uses chips in each item yo make checking out and returning items easy and accurate. There is a good selection of books and movies to choose from. In all my interactions the staff have been plesent and helpful. The library is collocated with a school so at certain times of the day the parking situation can be a nightmare. This also makes it a little confusing for first time visitors.
Love this library. Friendly librarians and great resources. Another user mentioned an overabundance of left leaning books/authors. I have not found that to be true. Perhaps the books you were looking for were all checked out. Request a book and they will hold it for you.
Beware this library shares space with the local highschool. During passing periods the library can get crowded. When I've gone many of the sitting areas where occupied by students. The selection of books for adults is very limited. The childrens book area had many options to pick from. I wouldn't recommend this library for adults. The library is more suitable for younger kids.
