Hello Everybody, just had Breakfast at the Machine Shed in Rockford. I arrived with family around 8AM, wasn't sure if they were open because there wasn't many cars. But we went right in and was seated. This establishment has a very Country vibe just like the Cracker Barrel complete with store. As said there was only 4 other diners in the establishment. With that being said you would expect at least good food with your order made correctly. This was not the case though, the cook, not chef was not able to get the orders on the right plates and for the quality of the food they served....well I guess I would say mediocre but Not worth the price. Portion size is good; but if you have to scrape the food off my plate to put it with the order it belonged to. Well I didn't think that looked or felt good. I can only rate the Eggs Benedict and I would go somewhere else, I have definitely had better. I can't say how there lunch or dinner rush is but I wouldn't go back to find out. If you choose to dine here for Breakfast I wish you well and pray you receive the your order as you expect. Good Luck my Friend's
Great service! The apples were amazing with the biscuits. French onion soup was amazing, and the cheese is just right in terms of flavor. Onion shoe strings a little salty, but good with sauce. The brisket sandwhich was good, and very meat heavy. Which let the flavor sink in. The working man's breakfast was really good and the price for amount of food was perfect.
Absolutely loved it! Whole family stopped here on way back from vacation and we are so glad we did. Great food options, quality was excellent, food portion sizes were great and we all had leftovers. I love that they bring out cottage cheese, Cole slaw, rolls, and zucchini bread for whole family while you wait on your meals. Waitress was excellent! Very polite and attentive to needs. I never had to ask for refills because she handled it. Prices were very reasonable for quality and amount you get. Looking forward to the next chance we get to stop here! Several of us were meeting there for lunch we went in and were greeted by a not so friendly "hostess" we asked if they served breakfast all day to which she said "No, but we do have a limited breakfast menu right now" she asked how many of us there we so I told her. She walks us to the middle of the room and asked if we wanted table or booth I said table she puts the menu down on the table and walked away. When I went to open my menu it was all wet, sticky and in need of a good wipe down. We all sat down and after a bit a not so friendly server came over and took our drink order. We tried joking with her but she didn't seem to be in the mood for us and continued her not so friendly attitude. After we ordered I went to the restroom to wash my hands from handling what ever was on that nasty menu and told the hostess she or someone might want to wipe down the menus as there was something on at least one of them however her response was "Oh". The restroom was dirty, littered with paper towels and toilet tissue on the floor and a toilet gross and dirty. Our drinks came and they were all correct and fresh. When she was taking our order we had to repeat several times we were on separate tickets. One person at the table ordered the hot potroast sandwich like it says on the menu and she looks at him and says you mean the hotbeef? Our soups came out one at a time and separated by several minutes taking so long we were thinking she didn't hear the second person ask for soup. The onion ring appetizer are not at plentiful as they used to be but the flavor was very good. When our meals were served the potatoes and gravy were barely warm so the gravy was on the thick side. The food was definitely not and good as it used to be in there and the service definitely isn't as good as it used to be.
Heard great thing about Machine Shed so my wife and I went for dinner. Took a while for the server to take our order. My brisket sandwich tastes like bbq sauce. The meat itself did not have much flavor. My wife had the pork tenderloin sandwich. She said it needed seasoning since it was bland. The coffee was good. One star mostly the service. Server came to out table with the check and quickly said we can pay up front. Then went to serve the other table with a smile.
Rockford has a lot of good places to eat that we don't have near us, but any time we find ourselves in Rockford, Machine Shed is at the top of our list for restaurants. Prices are typical for restaurants these days, but you do get more food here than at other restaurants. Bread, cole slaw, and fried apples were served family style alongside our dinner entrees which themselves came with a potato and vegetable. At $9.99 per slice, the chocolate cake seems expensive, but when you consider it is big enough to serve four easily, actually is quite a value. If you're looking for some good home cooking, this is the place to go.
Excellent service. Our waitress was very busy with a large table but our service never suffered. My wife and I ate very well and everything was perfect!
Lovely place, if you squint your eyes a bit, you might think you were at a Cracker Barrel. Food portions were fair to small, however they made it up in flavor. And the Staff could not have been more friendly. I am going back this weekend with friends.
Great place for home-style meals! They accommodated us for a party of over twenty with no problem.Dine in: Yes
Loved the big round tables. Liked the glass of Pinot Grigo. Food was good. Has a small scale gift shop also.Food: 3/5
