Marshall Field's is marvelous... The several times I visited the store, recently, have been relaxing and a fun experience not crowded; plenty of nice clothing to look at and try on... many great bargain finds as well my daughter loves the clearance racks! :
My wife and I were visiting Chicago for our anniversary on a rainy weekend. She had forgotten to pack a hoodie, so we made our way to the Macy's nearby. I was just expecting a normal one like ours in Michigan. I was in for a shock! Coming in at 7 accessible stories, it was a behemoth. A behemoth with amazing architecture and design. It is worth a visit if nothing else to take in a department store from another era it has all the modern amenities. My only downside was that it was being remodeled here and there, so I could not give it a 5th star without it being finished. Check it out.
Overall a unique visit for experiencing such a large department store. I kinda got whiplash going from floor to floor though. Some are clean and lavish while others look quite dated!
The retail aesthetics we're beautiful, however there a were few empty display windows on both Wabash and State Street side...to my dismay. Macys is beautiful but it does not compare to the grandeur that was once Marshall Field's & Co., my old employer back in the 80s. On a positive note, I was very pleased to see that the old Walnut Room has reopened for specialty brunches, special events and wedding packages
I had a wardrobe malfunction whereas I needed a dress asap. The staff in Macy's was amazing. They pointed me in the right direction and checked me out very quickly. Did I mention the dress was on sale?! $50!
Update: Today I signed up for a Macy's credit card and spent 6 hours here, on only 2 floors. This store has everything imaginable. Third floor women's is full of the most beautiful dresses I've ever seen. And many great sales for Father's Day weekend coming up. Amazing store!! An entire city block. You will need many many trips here to fully enjoy what Macy's has to offer. Today it was pre- black Friday specials/prices. I found several items, and with a Macy's charge an extra 20 percent off. Unfortunately I don't have a Macy's credit card, but it was still a good deal!
A great shopping mall to explore. From Calvin Klein to big shot brands, they cover everything. I love their organisation and patience. Every class can buy their essentials from here. It is my favourite place to shop.
I have been a Macy's customer through various local name changes. This experience was NOT one of my favorites. Going through the fragrance section, I was presented with a few different scents, one of which was amazing. After trying it on my skin for a few moments, I realized its chemistry matched mine wonderfully, so I went back to the counter to make my purchase. Although the price was not out of normal range, the items they offered me were a bit more than I wanted to spend at the time. When I asked if they had something at a lower price, I was told that what I had was the lowest price for the fragrance. I made my purchase and left the store. Later that evening, I looked on the website and found numerous items in that line for a lower price. , found that the price I paid SHOULD have qualified me for a gift with my purchase, which I did not receive. The downtown Chicago Macy's will never again get my business.
Didn't realize "Toys r Us" was still around. Here at Macy's there is one still here. I stopped by to say hi to Jeffrey!
almost an entire block of retail with gothic/ornate columns and tile ceilings, where you can find something for everyone. there is a restaurant up on the top floor and during winter holidays have pretty decorations up. lower level has their ‘rack equivalent backstage goods’, food court, bookstore, and most importantly is connected to the pedway which is great during the storms/bad weather. visitors should check this place out and try not to get lost!
