Our first time to Mad Mex. Did not live up to the hype. The food was…meh…nothing special…El Campesino down the street is much better Mexican in my opinion. The positive; staff was friendly and attentive, great location, and food was generously sized. That’s where the positives end. There were no complimentary chips and salsa…if you want chips and salsa be prepared to pay extra I think around $4. If you want guacamole or sour cream on your burrito, prepare to pay extra. And the food was nothing special. The burrito I had was mostly rice with a little chicken mixed in. Nice location, but most likely will not return.
Just make sure you have all night to get tacos. The staff was very nice and helpful. But it was just me and my six year old son and after spending two hours at the restaurant we had to ask for our food to-go. Any other Mexican sit down restaurant would’ve been much quicker. I feel bad for the wait staff
June 2022 update - More good things to say. We sat on the patio and had a fabulous evening. The Mahi Mahi tacos and Fajitas were considered first rate by all who ordered them! Sarah was our waitress and she livened the place up - she was great and was training someone. It was nice to see someone who was so engaged and engaging and could enjoy what she was doing. Kudos to her! More photos attached. ******************************************************************* Apr 2022 update - stopped in for lunch and the sound volume is much lower - thank heavens! We could actually talk to each other !!! We tried one of the standard burritos and it's the same as it always has been, which is a good thing. We also tried their new lettuce wraps which have a vegetarian chorizo. This was not good. The chorizo did not taste much like chorizo - instead it tasted like some sort of dried and crumbly something or other. The iceberg lettuce given was also not the best selection for use as a wrap and the avocado sauce was so overpowered by the lime juice they used that we basically left it untouched after we tasted a small sample. Not a dish we will try again. ******************************************** Better experience this time with well seasoned food ... From the regular menu. Volume of sound system is still too loud for comfort.
Really really bad service. The restaurant was not packed or overly crowded. We waited for at least 20 minutes to even see our waitress after being seated. She forgot many things we asked for. It took 25 minutes and asking twice to get a side of ranch. My meal had the wrong sauce and was almost too spicy for me to eat, let alone enjoy. My daughters meal wasn't what I ordered at all. We had to ask multiple time for water glasses and never got the refill we requested. I was almost completely finished with my meal by the time my bar drink arrived. We had to grab silverware off another table in order to eat our meals while they were hot. There was no apology or explanation for the terrible service.
Great place for lunch, come early for better parking. or... You could come for dinner! Great place either way, lots of options, their tortilla soup is very good though portion wise could be larger. Wings, burritos, fajita's & quesadillas, it's all great tasting. During the warmer months you can eat on the back deck overlooking the lake. Beer selection is great, tons of IPA's, bottles, and on tap. If you sit at the bar make sure to ask for Katie, she is AWESOME!!! 6-11, went tonight, great as always.
Awful experience. Took an hour and a half to get just appetizers. They sat us at a high top table in the bar area which was packed. People were actually sitting at the table we were brought to and the host expected us to ask them to move. People at bar area bumping into us and talking really crudely around my young children. Food was terrible. From a can and/or a bag. My chicken wing looked rotten. Terrible experience. Never coming back.
We love this Mad Mex! The servers here are always great and the food is delicious. My favorite is the burrito in a bowl and my husband loves the wing tacos. The patio is a perfect spot. The wait is usually long but worth it.Food: 5/5
The restaurant was empty, when asked if a booth was ok we said yes. We were taken to the large U shaped booth. We asked if we could sit someplace else, with a huff she looked around and seated us. We ordered our beer and food at the same time. Our beer was warmer than our food. We hadn’t seen our waitress so we asked someone if they could get her. We told her the issue and if we could get containers that we would take it home. Without an apology or asking if there was anything she could do she dropped the containers and the bill off and walked away. Disappointed in MadMex. Very poor customer service.
Service was slow, which I completely understand due to staffing issues but the food was downright horrible. The fish tacos were over fried and inedible. Wings were okay. Burrito wasn't much better. Rice was dry and bland. I don't think I'll be back anytime soon.
This location is severely understaffed. I know it's difficult to hire people, but we waited about 45 minutes for a table in a nearly-empty restaurant and once we were seated it took another 20 minutes for anyone to come to our table. The food was delicious, but sadly we probably won't be back to this location.
