Let me introduce myself. I am a mother of two beautiful children and a beautiful little Chiweenie dog named Tootie. I have been cooking since I had my first easy bake oven which was around 7 years old. As a child I spent a lot of time over my grandmother's house while my mom worked long hours. My grandmother was a cook and an awesome baker and her talents were in high demand so I sat at the kitchen table watching her for many years. She is where I learned my love of baking. My mother was a home cook. Nothing fancy smancy but she would put dinner together with little effort and she is how I learned to put my love into my food. We used to watch cooking shows together before there was a food network. We watched Natalie Dupree, and Jeff Smith, and Julia Childs on the public broadcast channel. Every day I would run home from school to watch cooking shows and I have been watching them for over thirty years.
Cooking and baking has always been apart of who I am and a passion that I am crazy about.
Fast forward to 1997, I entered the University of Georgia as a Child and Family Development major where I learned about child development and the life cycle. Children is my other love for as a child I always said I wanted to be a teacher but ended up wanting to do more than just teach. So when I add my natural love for children and teenagers and my heart for the elderly, and my love for cooking and baking...after recently being laid off from corporate America, I felt this was as good as time as any to go for my dreams and teaching cooking classes to cooking enthusiast or the cooking curious whether it be kids or adults was where my self discovery brought me.
I plan on focusing on teaching kids how to cook fun and healthy meals where they can grow to love how to cook like I did watching my grandmother and mother cook as a child. Back then, I couldn't help when I was young but in this day and age, it's very important to teach children sustainable skills that they can take with them for the rest of their life. And being a great home cook and learning how to put their heart in their food is a great start for a budding a chef or simply someone who wants to be an amazing home cook.
To teach valuable skills to children and enhance the desirability to get in the kitchen and cook fun, healthy, and delicious meals with their families and to also give adults an opportunity to add or enhance their love for home cooking.
