I have nothing but great reviews for the staff,nurses and doctors at Magee. Everyone was so compassionate. My daughter had a rare infection and lost the baby. Dr Tiffany was amazing, so kind, knowledgeable and compassionate. The nurses were wonderful. I didn't know there were so many non profit services for bereavement! Thank you to all who were there helping Heather and Cody. I hope the staff sees this post.
The nurses and staff in labor and delivery get a 5 star However, the cafeteria is a disgrace! The so called food on the weekend had been sitting there for hours!! It was dried out and disgusting! My daughter was in for 48 hours and we were starving! Monday I thought it would be so much better? But there were a few more things to choose from but all was terrible!! No wonder everybody in the waiting room was ordering take out!! I have been in every hospital in Oakland and the north hills and the cafeterias have been wonderful and a place to relax!
Am still here in our post delivery room writing this review, and to start this hospital and it’s staff are amazing! My daughter was just born April 9th Easter Sunday with a small hole in her heart, and the care and love that goes into the patients and family from every member of the staff will never be forgotten. Our baby girl came into the world at 2pm today and is cute as can be Shoutout to the Emily Duo that took care of us in LD3! And to all the other nurses, doctors, and staff that made this an even more unforgettable experience. Much love and thank you again for the hospitality you show all of your patients, We love you guys!
I have used Magee since 08 which is when I birthed my preemie daughter. NICU was amazing and so was my after care. Fast forward to now, I’ve recently had to have three surgery. Their team of highly skilled doctors found the issues when others dismissed and sent me home! The staff are also the most friendly people I’ve encountered in a hospital setting. I had not one but multiple doctors stop by and ask me about my condition and if I understood the approach they were taking. The hospital is an hour drive and I’ll choose to take the ride in order to receive proper care at this hospital !!!!! Thanks to everyone at Magee for making my surgery experiences the best they could be.
My loved one was hospitalized and while I stayed to provide support, the recliner I slept on must have not been replaced in decades. It smelled like mold/mildew and old antique furniture. I scheduled an appointment with my allergist. Very disappointing , I expect quality control would routinely review items and products would be updated.
I told my daughter to go there tonight for a second opinion because she's worried she has an ectopic pregnancy. They treated her so terribly that it hurts my heart that I encouraged her to go there. She overheard the doctor making fun of her in the hallway. They didn't test her for a single thing. They belittled her and humiliated her. I'm totally blown away. A decade ago they saved my life when I was misdiagnosed at a different hospital and I have always held them to the highest regards. Literally heart broken. Do not go here ladies. We have enough of the world to fight- we don't need to go to a WOMEN'S hospital to be humiliated. We all deserve dignity. I'm so sorry for anyone that I have ever encouraged to go here. My daughter is still so scared and on her hour drive home to me without a single answer or test. You should be ashamed of yourself.
I had wonderful pregnancy never missed appointment never had any problems or issues my doctor was amazing until I was called in to come give birth I had the worst experience of my life I was given medication to speed up my labor but my body wasn’t responding well to it I threw up multiple times throughout the night I voice my concerns to the nurse and they were ignored. She was so rude. She didn’t care if I was comfortable she kept telling me I was OK but I knew I wasn’t my child heart rate was up down finally I was rush to have a c-section after two & half long days of pain fast forward to now I have questions and concerns my child is autistic, but not only is my child autistic Nephew is autistic. My neighbor child is also autistic , my best friend twins are autistic. Another friend of mine child is autistic. People that I grew up with children also autistic in total 11 children that I know personally all born at Magee with in a year apart have autism can someone tell me why would that be it doesn’t make any sense none of us have it linked in our families the only thing that we have in common is a Magee hospital I can go on & on but I’ll stop here we need answers!
Have a love hate relationship with this place. There are some really wonderful people that work here. My wife has had some excellent care providers that have gone above and beyond for her patient experience. A majority of the front line staff have always been pleasant and great to work with and heavily outweigh any negative staff experiences we have had. With that being said it’s hard to know where to point the negative experiences but have to believe it falls on administration. We have been sent on wild goose chases been given incorrect information by staff and have had a slew of poor communication and direction on a regular basis . It is almost impossible to get someone to take responsibility for issues that arise or even just get clear direction. Thank God they have some wonderful people that work here to at least help or try to navigate the nightmare that is UPMC. It is a shame that this is the only woman’s hospital and birth center in Pittsburgh. Could be better and scary to think it could be worse….
My delivery was amazing, but our NICU stay has been horrible. Doctors that don’t care and want to constantly remind you of the “code of conduct” when you get upset during a phone call. The lack of compassion is ridiculous in the physicians that are supposed to be “caring” for my child. And filing complaints and voicing concerns gets you no where.
My daughter had a surgery here last month and I have nothing but good things to say. Everyone was incredibly gentle with my anxious adult child, explained things thoroughly and even took time to talk with us and form connections before we entrusted them to operate on her. Nurse Gabby was a sweetheart.
