Great spot for a movie, Affordable, comfortable, charming and highly atmospheric.
Cute regional restored. theater in downtown Spokane Shows Indy films and has popcorn, drinks, wine and beer. Popcorn scooped into metal bowls not paper bags. Loved no waste !
We love everything about this place. We’re so lucky to have this “Art House” theater in Spokane. There is always something interesting and entertaining to see here. The only disappointing thing about it is the lack fof local support. We’re often the only viewers in the place watching really great films. We’d hate to see the Magic Lantern disappear. PLEASE give it a try. It’s small and cozy with a big screen, great sound, comfy seats and bottomless popcorn at a reasonable price. Please…for everybody’s sake…give it a try!
I rented the small theater for my birthday, and Jonathan made it the most wonderful and memorable experience ever! He was kind, accommodating, talented, and was overall a wonderful host! I highly recommend the magic lantern theater! It’s wonderful for viewing art films and great for hosting private parties! 10 out of 10!
Went here for birthday celebration..watching a movie together was such a fun warm way to celebrate..this would be good way to celebrate many kinds of events..you can take your own CD in they also serve beverages..just a great idea
It's not what you expect from a modern theater, so don't go in expecting it. They have a small popcorn machine, the chairs are an older style and not super comfortable, and the screen isnt huge. You can see independent films here mainly. It's kinda cool to experience something different and it has an old time feel to the place.
Truly a Spokane gem! I've booked the theater for several private rentals and it's been worth every penny. The sound quality is amazing, the concessions are varied and inexpensive and the employees are lovely. I'd go every week if I could!
The magic lantern is the one and only go to theater showing superb independent films! It is more of a cultural resource than a commercial theater. Spokane would sorely miss a huge array of important films if anything happened to the theater! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
A true Spokane gem. We are grateful this place is here and open. Also grateful for Jonathan Abramson who manages the place and brings some of the best art movies to Spokane. My hat is off to them. Thank you for all you do.
We were greated by a multi-talented, personable and knowledgeable attendant. From tickets to timing, treats and drinks with a bit of friendly conversation and information thrown in, he made us feel welcome as well as excited to see the show. We found out later that it was his first solo show and it went perfectly for us and our friends.
