This was such a great way to learn about history. We did the tour guide with the Park Ranger and it was great. She lead us through what happened. The tour was about 45 minutes long. It is a great place to bring children. Since it is outdoors our boys could explore. The museum was very well done. There is also an interactive map that gives a layout of the battle.
I went there February 19 2022. The wind was blowing about 25 mph and temperatures of 40 degrees. The ranger tour of the Robinson farm was intriguing. The statue of Thomas Stonewall Jackson was very impressive. This place has the best information video I have ever seen at a national park. They have a good junior ranger program but no longer have a Bark Ranger for dogs. I wish it had been a little warmer
The battlefield was beautiful! The park rangers and the staff were so friendly and knowledgeable. My only con was that the driving tour was not as easy for me to follow as it is in Gettysburg. But I would definitely recommend and return.
Great presentation of the battlefield and how both battles went down. So many visually stimulating displays of actual items from the battle. The statue of Stonewall Jackson is one of my favorites along with an old American flag of the time. Very somber to stand outside on the battlefield and imagine how it must of been. Definitely a must-see when in the DC area.
Always a beautiful place to hike with miles of trails and the fall colors are currently at their peak. The visitors center offers a museum and film as well as a gift shop with some unique and very giftable items. There are ranger led educational programs and special events throughout the year. You can also easily do a self guided tour with a map available online at the website. This is one of my favorite national parks and by far the best Battlefield park in the area.
I've come here multiple times to hike- it never fails to amuse me. Full of rich history everywhere. There are 2 places to park: one that is placed in the middle and there is the main parking. I like that the huge chunk of the area is preserved. You'll always find something new. There are various trails to choose from.
Really beautiful place, especially considering the history here. It's amazing that something so brutal and bloody could happen at such a beautiful place. I'm a fan of history, from all periods and places. This place has a very informative museum; as well as buildings from the period, period cannons, a cemetery, and several monuments dedicated to the battle. This place is kept up really well, and because it's spread out over so many acres you don't have to worry about it being too crowded. I hope it's around for many years to come so that it can teach people about its' history.
I've been to ALOT of battlefields over the years. Bull Run is hands down one of the most beautiful ones I've ever seen. Definitely worth a visit. About an hour from Alexandria where I was staying. Rangers were really friendly.
I love these trails. I especially enjoyed the Manassas Battlefield Trail 1. My dog can I do this in about an hour and half but we aren't doing a lot of sightseeing. We haven't been able to find the Second Manassas Trial but we will figure it out.
While I feel like memorializing the confederacy is not my cup of tea, it was great to explore this area. Acknowledging our history is important though, and they did good job of it. Was nice to get to the end to see the acknowledgment of the Union taking back Manassas, Bull Run.
