A Brief History - Social Issues Resources Series (SIRS), was founded in 1973 by Elliot and Eleanor Goldstein to help librarians and teachers bring relevant, current information to libraries and classrooms in a simple, structured and readily accessible format.
Mandarin was introduced in 1986 as one of the first truly integrated microcomputer-based library management systems. SIRS’ July 1995 acquisition of the Mandarin Library Automation from Melchior Management System of Montreal, Canada, enabled Mandarin to provide libraries and other institutions with customized, comprehensive library automation systems. At the American Library Association’s June 1998 meeting in Washington, Mandarin introduced the Mandarin M3® Core Package.
Our Management Team - On July 1, 2007 Leonardo (Leo) Lazo, President of Mandarin Library Automation, Inc., and two other major management team members, Christine DiVito, Vice President of Finance and Art Graham, Vice President of Operations, acquired 50 percent of Mandarin’s stock. Each member of this management team offers more than 25 years of industry knowledge and experience.
The Goldstein Family still retains ownership of 50% of the company’s stock, and Elliot Goldstein remains Chairman of the Board of Directors.
Technical Support Staff - Our technical staff is among the best in the industry. Many of our technical support representatives and Quality Assurance staff have degrees in Computer Science and related fields, and are qualified professionals with credentials in MCSE (Microsoft Certified System Engineer), Cisco Router Certification, CNE (Certified Netware Engineer) and/or hold degrees in Library Science.
