Mandarin Library Automation (MLA) delivers intuitive, easy-to-use and functionally sophisticated automated library solutions to libraries, schools, colleges, museums, special libraries and other organizations throughout the world.
A Brief History - Social Issues Resources Series (SIRS), was founded in 1973 by Elliot and Eleanor Goldstein to help librarians and teachers bring relevant, current information to libraries and classrooms in a simple, structured and readily accessible format.
Mandarin was introduced in 1986 as one of the first truly integrated microcomputer-based library management systems. SIRS’ July 1995 acquisition of the Mandarin Library Automation from Melchior Management System of Montreal, Canada, enabled Mandarin to provide libraries and other institutions with customized, comprehensive library automation systems. At the American Library Association’s June 1998 meeting in Washington, Mandarin introduced the Mandarin M3® Core Package.
