Very interesting site. I enjoyed how they have signs explaining the ecosystem and landscape all the way on the trail. It's kids friendly. They also have a covered outdoor classroom if you need to take a break. The site was well kept. However coming by car the access of the trail wasn't well indicated. The direct access gate indicated by the GPS was closed we had to go park on the Marian university parking lot and access the trail by the stairs.

I go here with a class in the summer. We have Sarah our botanist walk us through and tell us about all of the different nature and some of the wildlife in the area. We learn about different habits. If you haven't walked through the wetlands, I highly recommend it. The trail is great to be one with nature for a minute.
Most likely you will need to park at the marian university mansion near the colonnade . There are 2 stairways to the trail, one near the colonnade, and one behind the mansion. Main trail is gravel, but there are lots of side trails. Be sure to go to the other side of the football field and wander on the many trails over there to see the abandoned buildings, or drive up the next road to get to the waterfall bridge.
This. Place was by far my favorite place that I've ever visited. The paths were well kept, the park itself was well kept, and it was enough foliage to block out the surrounding city. The bridges and stone buildings were pretty amazing as wellbasically ruins. Never expected to see a waterfall in Indiana, let alone inside Indianapolis. I had a wonderful time going off trail and along the creek. Do yourself a favor and check this place out. I'm going back to see the spring decor this year when everything grows back.
So happy to have found this hidden gem! My phone died, or I'd have a lot more photos to share. Located on the University of Marian campus, this EcoLab has beautiful trails to hike and plenty of wildlife to enjoy. There are also cool stone structures to stumble upon, almost like a secret fairy forest. Magical indeed. If you appreciate the beauty and calm of the outdoors, you'll be enchanted with this place!
Just wow. The nature here is unbeatable for Indianapolis. I 100% recommended a visit, but be warned, it's a wetlands, so mosquitoes are very heavy.
I loved this place! Be sure to check out the Oriental Gardens too, that whole area is very nice!
A hidden gem! What a wonderful escape to nature in the middle of the city. Pictures can’t show how beautiful this place is. A bonus was to know a little of the history about the Riverdale Estate which you can read about on the website. Definitely going back!
My friends and I did a night tour or exploration of wildlife, the number of butterflies and fireflies that we saw were amazing. I'd do it again!!
