My wife and I always try to stop by MarieBette when we visit Charlottesville. We stopped by Saturday morning for a quick bite before heading to the wineries. The building is small and there is tables inside and outside but during breakfast times it seems to fill up pretty quick. You may even have to park along the street. The service is always friendly and helpful. They have other food items besides baked goods as well. We always like trying different breads and pastries. This time we got an almond croissant, banana sourdough bread and an ice coffee. The almond croissant was crispy and soft at the same time, but the banana sour dough was surprisingly delicious. I think it is definitely worth a stop to check out!
Busy on a Monday morning. Very good pastries and Baguette. Got a sausage/egg/cheese croissant. Good but the sausage was a single circular sausage hotdog style, which was not enough for the size of the sandwich. The latte and Cappuccino we ordered was totally ruined. Burnt and way too hot.
Coffee is really good. The sweet pastry behind the counter looked yummy. We had a plain croissant, it was not buttery or flaky despite the lamination. The traditional baguette made a great sandwich. There is no service and apparently they get a line some days. I don't understand the hype.Food: 4/5
Staying in town for the weekend and this cafe came highly recommended. For some reason we thought the cafe opened at 8:00 am and we got there at 7:50. We didnt realize it opened at 8:30 until about 8:10 when we wondered why they werent opening the doors. By 8:20, there were about 10 people in line behind us. Thankfully we looked at menus and were ready to order as soon as they opened the door. My partner and I both got London Fog Tea Lattes and breakfast sandwiches. I got mine on a baguette and him, a croissant. They were both excellent but we both preferred the croissant over the baguette. London Fogs were great! We noticed the staff being very friendly with other guests but as several passed us, they didnt say a word. I felt a but ignored to be honest since they were chatty with others. I guess it was because we were new and they didnt know us.
This bakery is great! We got drinks and sandwiches. The vegetarian sandwich selection isn’t super diverse, unfortunately. They were very accommodating when I asked for turkey instead of ham on my sandwich. The coffee was also great! I didn’t purchase any pastries but they all looked delicious.Recommended dishesCroissant
Motown on the radio and a good croissant and a delightful breakfast sandwich. The little things are right here. The eggs are properly scrambled and herbed, the baguette is warm and crunchy. A note on the baguette. It is soft but holds the crunch. It doesn’t take the jaws of life to pull it away from itself nor is there a fear of a pointed edge gouging the roof of your mouth. A fine piece of bread here.
I can only speak for the bakery items, but this is truly the best bakery in town. Variety of items, all DELICIOUS. The quiche was amazing, even cold. Highly recommend, but expect to wait in line on weekends.Recommended dishesPastries, Quiche Du Jour
Needed to grab some coffee while road tripping and tried MarieBette. When we came there was a bit of a line so it seems popular. They have a variety of baked goods and pastries available, and a smaller coffee menu. I did wish they had more drink options, but I got their iced mocha. I also tried their sticky pecan roll which luckily just got restocked and seemed to be fresh from the oven. It was really good! There's limited seating, so it seems like more of a grab n go style place. Staff is very friendly and there's some street parking outside.
The best French toast I’ve ever had! The Nutella butter was outrageously good! Highly recommended. Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp access
I love this Place! I grew up in Switzerland and am so grateful to have MarieBette to provide me with crispy golden croissants, delicious pastries and authentic breads. The staff is pleasant and provides great service, there is space to sit down, chat and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere inside as well as outside. A true gem. Parking: I usually just pull up and find free street parking
