Mission

The Marietta Police Department is a fully accredited police organization with a modern, well-educated, highly competent staff. We value high integrity, the community policing philosophy and continually strive for excellence in all that we do. In this regard, our primary focus is on protecting and serving our citizens with the highest possible levels of devotion to duty by all members of the Department.

In accordance with our community policing philosophy, we use advanced strategic planning methods to move the department toward becoming less incident-driven and more proactive in addressing the root causes of crime and disorder in our community. Our strategies include advanced analytic problem-solving techniques; teamwork with all stakeholders of neighborhood problems coupled with collaboration of the full resources of local government; and candid open communications dialogue with the Marietta community.

We view one of the frontiers of modern policing to be in the area of information management and interpersonal communications. In this vital area, our approach is to work smarter-not harder by embracing both rapidly developing technologies and the technological acumen of our emerging workforce.

Most importantly, the bedrock of the Marietta Police Department is the set of values with which we approach everything we do: honesty, integrity, respect, teamwork, professionalism and loyalty.

Viral video is still circulating.... Like it should. This entire Department needs to be fired and locked up, right along with their Cheif. Nothing but Tyrants.
We had $5k worth of stolen items from our store. We had a picture of the 2 men, their license, a stolen credit card and a picture of the tag of their truck. They took about 5 minutes to look up the tag and license and said it wasn't a close enough match to my photo! They said the tag and license were not stolen. Refused to do anything more! yikes! The investigator said we need to "build thefts into our business pricing". Maybe we should just ignore all thefts and individuals need to "build thefts into our homeowners cost of living". Expected a lot more for the amount of property taxes we give to the city of Marietta! This is the second time in 5 years with no results. Someone stole $7k worth of items a few years back too with same results!! When our business was in Smyrna their police department was excellent! I think we need to "Move to another district" to get results. A lot of people say the same thing about Marietta P.D...., maybe Marietta is a jurisdiction with worse problems than little $5k and $7k thefts. I have a THIN BLUE LINE Flag on my jeep.... I support the police tremendously.... LAZY investigators
Quite possibly the most incompetent group of "officers" I've had the misfortune to deal with. I own a restaurant in Marietta and had a group of 3 young girls and make a scene. After I repeatedly asked them to leave they finally left but on the way out one of them had grabbed a beer mug about 1/4 inch thick from a table and smashed it against the floor. The shards flew everywhere and one of them actually hit one of my customers in the face! When I called 911 and an officer showed up she told me there was nothing to do except to try to make her pay for the glass she broke "because she had already left." How about destruction of personal property? Misconduct? My customer could've been hit in the eye and injured deeply. Since when is leaving the crime scene a pardon for your crime? I showed her the picture of the license plate and she told me it was a rental car and that there was no way to know who it was. No, officer, I'm sure rental car companies keep track of who rents their cars along with their address, insurance information and their full name. The father of the girls actually showed up with them to the restaurant about an hour later to place an order and demanded to know why we would refuse to take their order. I called 911 again because the officer told me to call if they show up again. The same officer showed up and actually tried to convince me to make nice and take their order. I kept trying to get them to leave because I have no interest in providing service to anyone who is that deprived of common sense and courtesy; she kept trying to refute whatever I said. The girls were outside in the car and the officer made no move to question, arrest or even reprimand the girls I found out the one who broke the glass was 21, full 3 years past the legal age of an adult. All in all if I could choose where my considerable taxes go I would give precisely $0.00 to the police department. Having no police at all would be better than the nonsense the good citizens of Marietta are subjected to every day. P.S.= The officer actually shook the father's hand as she left. Good job! Thank you for spending my tax money on not arresting criminals.
Police officer that responded to an accident seen refuse to view and included the evidence provided to determine party at fault $7500 in property damage plus injuries to passengers 2 kids in my SUV. Instead, told us go figure it out with your insurances. I called his Sargent and filed a complaint. Within 2 hours I had an updated collision report with the other party at fault that received a moving violation ticket for causing a collision.
I interact with Marietta PD on a regular basis and they are top notch. They interact well with our group a church and are physically fit and ready to protect if need be. Since they are basically working over time when we see them, they are often at the end of a long day. But even with this, they are cordial and work to represent themselves and their department well.
Ive been there 4 times to try and get my property back. The person who approves and distributes the property is so stuck on keeping my iPhone. Ive been sent 3 trips to the courthouse over and over again even after the courthouse distributed the proper paperwork to release my iPhone back to me. Ive tried to complain twice to the Supervisor and get the Supervisor to service me instead. Its locked no one can steal it anyway. Its been 3 years and I still dont have my phone back. I bet its gone by now; but I dont think they care anyway. Not really fond of the way things are done from the officers to the office.
My mother is a taxi cab driver. She picked up somebody during her night shift. The person whom picked her up tried to make her drive into a dark location. She refused so they lady hit her and broke her phone for her to avoid calling the police. Thing is my mother carries 2 phones. So she called the 911 from the other phone. Lady ran, and the police found her but there was No arrest due to no cause that was said by the police officer. No cause? Seeing a broken phone. And the lady left! If this was cobb county police that would have been enough. Mind you she did not pay the fare either. And recognized her as running and not paying for the fare before also. At the moment she did not recognized her until after the incident. Marietta police is just waiting for something worse to happen
got a ticket for doing 60 on a 5 lane highway. "protect and serve" looks a lot like we need money and wont hesitate taking a college students food fund for 2 weeks. also i ve had to call 911 twice in this departments jurisdiction for breaking and entering vehicles in the parking lot, at least 5 vehicles both times while i was 3 miles down the road. a literal joke of a police force.
After having my phone stolen June 14th at Dave and Busters in Marietta, I quickly notified Officers to try and get a police report and get information on the process. It took police officers over three hours to respond, but luckily, there was an off duty officer passing by that I was able to flag down and explain the situation. After I made my report to this off duty Officer, he explained the process and told me that he would put the case in the system by Tuesday, June 20th. It is now June 28th and my case is still not in the system. I have been calling to get an update on my case since June 20th and no one was available until today, June 28th. This is absurd because after using "google find my phone," It showed the house and address my phone was reported. They could have simply got a warrant or Just knocked on the thieves door and showed them the proof. Instead, they have taken their time and have allowed enough time to transpire for the phone to be sold or trashed. I was a Senior Paralegal for 6 years. Two Bachelor Degrees and currently a Law student. I know that police are busy, but to ignore a request for help is absurd. To allow so much time to transpire so that the case may be thrown away is insane. If it took over three hours for them to respond to a stolen phone, I can't imagine how long it would take if I was actually dying.Much of what I described is the reason why there is so much distrust in police. PLEASE DO BETTER AND BE THE CHANGE PEOPLE ARE LOOKING FOR, FROM POLICE.
Well, my entire family defended the policemen until recently. Police named D Smith just lied to a judge. Someone with that many years of service should have integrity. This police officer also only turns his camera on when convenient. Karma is B and there will come a day to be judged. Shameful, to say the least.
