At this point, I've been to what feels like almost every trail in Missouri, however THIS state park has some of the best trails, I would definitely recommend this as this park is definitely in my top 3 for Missouri. The Dogwood, Post Oak, and White Oak trail is an amazing set of trails.
This was my first visit to this location from St. Louis and we had a great time. I rented a tent site and the lot was even and shaded, seemed like most were. Plenty of space also. There is a side that had a neat playground for kiddos, walking trails, and the workers were wonderful. Bathrooms and showers were not too far from any site and clean. My pup loved it as well just make sure they have their tick treatments, we all found a few so be sure to check yourself too!. Overall it’s a nice place to camp and we will definitely be back!
We were wondering around Mark Twain lake this morning and happened to run in to this amazing birth place of Samuel Clemens Mark Twain. They have a whole museum full of his original books, belongings and his actual birth house. It sure was a pleasant surprise..
Wonderful park and great location. Did go for camping for 3 nights and booked basic sites. Sites are big and spacious and can accommodate 2 tents per site. Had tap water too near to camp ground but wash room and shower rooms were little far. It was neat and clean. Liked the trails did go for two of them and both were moderate with kids too it is doable. Charging electronic devices like cellphone and smart watch was challenge but were able to manage. Twain lake was awesome. Special hats off to the park staff, they were very helpful.
Wonderful place to get away for a quiet weekend. The state park campground is well kept and laid out in a user friendly way. . A nice swimming beach is nearby and the Florida winery with live entertainment made for a pleasant afternoon.
Fantastic family & pets adventure! First time we've been and we've already planned or next trip back! This is a weekend thing because there's SO MUCH to do and see within a small 25 mile radius: hiking, fishing, boating, historical landmarks, rare indigenous birds, deer and more! Gorgeous views from many vantage points with plenty of room, parking, path/trail access and many landmarks to learn about.
This is such a beautiful place to be in the fall! Just gorgeous...
We loved hiking along the lake. Beautiful views. We liked that we could hike from our campsite. Not too steep but after tripping over roots and rocks, we were glad that we took our walking sticks.
Mark Twain State Park is 2,775 acres and offers beautiful scenery, and access to Mark Twain Lake. The park is also adjacent to the Mark Twain Birthplace State Historic Site, which has a museum dedicated to the iconic author. Available activities at this park include swimming, boating, fishing, hiking, camping, cabin rentals, and picnicking. The scenery is awesome, and includes bluffs which overlook Mark Twain Lake. We really enjoyed our visit to this state park, and highly recommend it.
Absolutely beautiful place that has some amazing overlooks of Mark Twain Lake and great trails for hiking... it's motorcycle spot get away and take in nature.
