This Facebook page is for the non-profit organization that is comprised of the non-superior sworn members of the Marlborough Police Department.
The MPPOA was created in 2002 by the members of the Marlborough Police Department with the rank of Police Officer, including Detective and other specialty, non-superior positions. From 2002-2009 the MPPOA remained an independent labor organization and retained private counsel with McDonald, Lamond, & Canzoneri.
In 2010, the body voted to affiliate with the New England Police Benevolent Association and became NEPBA Local 81. The membership is currently capped at 48 as that is the maximum allowed by the City of Marlborough for non-superior officers to be hired.
Prior to 2002, the MPPOA was known as the International Brotherhood of Police Officers (IBPO) Local 527.
