Mart Anthony's Italian Restaurant

Description

Mart Anthony’s is your home for authentic Italian cooking. We have been serving traditional Italian food to the Chicagoland community since 1981.

Our recipes have been handed down through our family for three generations. Only the finest and freshest ingredients go into our menu and we are happy to share our love of food with you.

Some of our favorite dishes are Grilled Calamari, Tortellini Romano, Chicken Saltimboca and of course, our signature dish, The Mart Anthony Filet encrusted in Pecorino Romano cheese in a Pomodoro sauce.
Have lunch or dinner around a table with your family or co-workers, or a cozy dinner for two. Come sit elbow-to-elbow at the bar and enjoy the camaraderie that happens when our customers are well-fed and have their cocktail of choice at hand. The dining room at Mart Anthony’s can accommodate all of these different groups and then some. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and if you’re not careful, you may stay longer than you thought.

"A third generation, old-school Italian restaurant serving classic family recipes like Braciole, Stuffed Artichoke, Tortellini Romano and more. A hidden gem of Chicago, but once you know... you know."

I was traveling alone in Chicago and decided to stop by for dinner on their beautiful front patio. Despite being the only person dining outside, the staff frequently checked in on me to ensure I was comfortable and enjoying myself. Everything was delicious I had the fettuccine lucia and a side of meatballs, as well as a glass of cab, the staff was incredibly friendly, and the patio was a great spot to enjoy the cool weather. I will definitely be returning the next time I’m in town!
Calamari was the highlight of our meals. Cooked perfectly !!! Sauce was great. The whitefish was overcooked, as well as the veal Marsala. The flavor of both was wonderful. Asked the server if we could get Angel hair instead and pay an up charge to have clam sauce on it. She said yes. I have done this many a times at restaurants, usually a $4. Or $5. Upcharge…She charged us for a whole dinner at $28. for our 2 sides, which the pasta came with the meal. Very Upsetting… My boyfriend did not want a scene so he paid it. The other thing was we ordered a bottle of Riesling which happened to be a twist off top… I know that is a cheap wine….And they charged $56. For that cheap bottle of wine. I know that there is a markup on wine at a restaurant but that price was ridiculous. Was more so an insult to injury !!! So Very disappointed !!!! We will NOT EVER be returning there. Such a shame…So good luck, and beware.
Simple, good, comfortable, friendly. That’s the head line for this restaurant. Beautiful patio perfect for a summer day. Indoor dinning room inviting with vintage wood paneling, charm and simple warmth. Food comforting and real with no frills. Pricing average and reasonable. Parking easy off times non metered .Valet optional. Make yourself comfortable, order Chianti and Mangia. AWARDED 2 YUMS ON A SCALE OF 3 I will be back.
Beautiful dinner in the back garden. Our first visit was definitely an enjoyable one. Stuffed peppers, braciole, soup, pasta with fresh sauce. All very tasty. Nice wine selection. Tasty and unique cocktails as well as classics. Speedy bar and kitchen service but never rushed. 3rd generation family business. Spoke with the grandson of the founder, Marty, who brought us up to speed on Marty Fest!
Delicious Italian food from a local owner, his sons and the friendly staff. We go every Friday for lunch to take advantage of the beautiful and secluded patio. This restaurant has fair prices, great recipes and wonderful service.
Classic Italian establishment with friendly service and a good amount of seats. The walls are lined with black and white photographs of Chicago icons. I enjoyed the fried calamari and the Chicken Parm. The pastas my friends got also looked great.Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: No
Tremendous food and excellent service. We were happy with every aspect. The outdoor patio is fantastic and you feel like you are eating in your own world. The Griller Calamari is unique and has a spicy/smoky flavor that is something we loved.
We had a wonderful experience at this place! The service was great, the cocktails were delicious, and the atmosphere was perfect. The food was excellent too. The staff made us feel very welcomeFood: 5/5
We go there early with our toddler. They are so kid friendly and accommodating. Very kind staff and excellent service. I wish I knew when they have mussels. So good last time!Food: 4/5
I saw this place on tiktok and it was really overhyped. I went with my girlfriend and we had to fight to get a reservation only to find that only 30% of the tables were occupied....truly an illusion of "this place is popular bc it's good". Starting with the food, the food was terrible. I feel like I could have cook a better meal with ingredients from my local 7/11 convenience store. It had no spice or seasoning to it. It was even missing salt and pepper. I ordered the Fettuccine Lucia for an astronomical $26. The menu says it is grilled chicken, sundried tomatoes, mushrooms, creamy tomato sauce, but it tasted like the chicken was cooked on a George Forman Grill from 2003. It was extremely dry and I could not eat it. The sauce tasted like ragu. I had to douse the dish in parmesan cheese only to eat maybe 20% of it. I was really expecting some beautiful dishes with stellar service but even the service was awful. I ordered a coke/pepsi and they walked by me several time with my glass empty and didn't offer to refill it. They also gave us 1 pitcher of water which we drank and they didn't offer us anymore. I was so thirsty still from eating the dry chicken. For 2 people we spent $95 and still left 20% tip. We will not be returning in the future. I cannot recommend this place to anyone. We took out food to go and on the walk home we left it on a bench at a bus stop.
